Dates Slices……from Cranks Cook Book
For all those health conscious fathers who can’t have cream but love a little slice for Fathers Day.
You need for 16 slices
350 g chopped Dates
90 ml water ( any old water)
225g wholemeal flour
100g oats
75g brown sugar
150g melted butter
1 lemon zest
·Preheat oven to 200
·Chop up the dates
·Zest the lemon and watch the manicure
·Think about what to wear to the Venice Film Festival
·Throw dates and lemon in a saucepan with the water and cook, stirring when you feel like it
·It’s cooked when it’s soft and gooey and all mushed up
·Let it cool.
·You can have a rest too and read the Huge September US Vogue.
·Melt the butter
·Then combine all the dry ingredients and pour in the butter
·Moisterise a biscuit tray
·Sprinkle half the oat mix into the base of the tin and press down well so it glues together
·Cover with the date mixture and smooth it out.
·Then cover the dates with the rest of the oat mix
·Throw in the oven and bake for 20 minutes at 200 till it has a chic little golden tan a la George Hamiliton.
·Cut into slices while it’s still a little warm
