I’ve got one word to say to you: Karl Lagerfeld. (OK. 2 words). Kaiser Karl is hot. His latest collection at Chanel got rave reviews and his new album Karl Lagerfeld: Les Musiques Que J’aime - My favorite songs -is the item of the week on Style.com. A compilation from his 70 iPods and 60,000 CD collection the two disc set is divided into an “at home” mix and an eclectic selection of “fashion show” tracks’. Now you must have Karl Lagerfeld: Room Service. ‘He conceived Room Service as a multi-track matrix: a series of photos, a short film and an unusual version of the song ‘Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend,’ by singer/songwriter Devendra Banhart all collected in one deluxe volume. The project began when Lagerfeld was commissioned to create a campaign for Dom Perignon. The storyline he created was an ultra-contemporary fairy tale that recounted an irresistible attraction between two solitary and seductive hedonists whose paths cross at one of Paris’ finest hotels–the woman played by Eva Herzigova, and the man by Brad Kroenig. Lagerfeld shot photographs of the stranger-couple’s erotic encounter, and Johan Renck shot the film, all in the luxurious George V hotel. This deluxe volume features tritone printing, an exclusive vinyl single of Banhart’s performance and a DVD of Renck’s film.’ Not bad for a guy who must be pushing at least 75 years of age. One word? Cool.
