What: A Boho Luxe floral dress
Why: Because we love to break up black for winter. To add a little sweetness. Because it’s trans seasonal and you are a recessionista. Wear it right now in mild autumn days and right through winter under layers. Because when models love the look you know the trend is not going away. (Check out model Arlenis in the May issue of US Vogue and Fashionologie). Because when you ask George Clooney what to wear and you hold up harem pants or a pretty floral dress, you know the answer.
Which: You want a small floral print. A big Hawaiian floral print is tricky to pull off in winter. A small floral print has a Bloomsbury/Talitha Getty/Marrakech feeling to it. You want the shape to be soft and flowing and stopp at the knee. It’s not about a maxi dress for winter. Please. It can be short and tight; You don’t want to look like Susan Boyle . Bless. Go for a narrow fit that maximises the waist. You have said Goodbye, Au revoir and That will be all thanks to the loose, sack dress.
Wear: With something tough to balance out all that prettiness. It could be a biker leather jacket, your monster/Alien heels, and black tights. But you knew that. Wear it under a trench (of course!), or a big belted military coat. Mix up the fabrics. We love chiffon with wool. Wear it under a long cardigan and belt it in. Wear it with your faux fur vest I told you to buy months ago. And ditch the jewellery. Keep it simple. All that print is hard enough to handle without adding glistening gold.
Where: You will find a floral dress everywhere this season and in every price range. Target, Witchery, Country Road, Scanlan and Theodore, Burberry, Gucci, Easton Pearson, and Arthur Galan.
