Why: Because It’s Bastille Day on July 14th. Because we are celebrating all things French this week on The FiFi Report. Is there anything more French than a beret? Pate or French onion soup. But you can’t wear those on your head. Marc Jacobs knows that which is why he had berets all through his latest Marc by Marc Jacobs show. It’s about being a little beatnik, about being a little sixties and a little left bank. It could even about being warm on a cold winter’s day. It’s about being tres chic non?
Wear: You want to wear a beret in black or navy. Maybe in choc brown. If you are have no taste but a lot of gumption you could wear a bright pink beret. And you will probably look chic anyway. Wear a beret with a lot of strict tailoring and strong shapes. Loose flowing dresses and a beret = too much BoHO NONO. Wear with biker boots and sexy short skirts. Wear with cute dresses and statement shoes. Don’t wear with a stripe top and a baguette under your arm unless you are in Paris. Then it’s your piece de resistance.
