The FiFi Report 406

In honour of the Olympics this week may I present The FiFi Sport Report. Sporty luxe is a big trend on the runways again this season as you can see here. US Vogue says “the backpack is the new clutch, the track pant pairs up with a chic Le Smoking, and the sneaker gets a lift to rival the most teetering of Louboutins for a very cool uniform indeed.”
It’s also a lovely change from all those hard to wear fashion victim florals and those tricky pastels arriving in store. Anyway nothing gives me more pleasure than modern, strong simple clothes in chic colours. Get your skates on and get going. Let the shopping begin. Time to to do your personal best.

Red leather trainers from Balenciaga
Trainers are back as a fashion item. That’s nice isn’t it ? And if you don’t believe me people you can see it here on Style.com. Go for crazy colours, seriously designer like Balenciaga, or go for simple New Balance. There are also the sneaky hidden wedges like the Isabel Marant for the groovers among us. I love Balenciaga trainers here. Why? Well, they are Balenciaga. Shut up. Oh, but they are comfortable, chic and the coolest. You will love wearing them. Try with jeans and or baggy pants with a crop jacket or sweater. No, they are not for the office so don’t make that face. $368 from Farfetch.

Adidas by Stella McCartney Printed showerproof cape:
She is very clever that Stella McCartney. I have always loved what she designs for addidas. By the way she did not design those horrible white with glitzy gold GB Olympics for the opening ceremony. Eeeww. (She did the uniforms for the events). You’ve got to love this poncho. It’s cool to throw over a white tank with jeans as you can see. Or perfect for summer on the yacht. With George in Lake Como. Love with white jeans. You could rock this jacket over a navy pencil skirt with these sporty Alexander wang heels . You could. If you’re feeling groovy. Baby. £95.83 from Net a Porter.

LL Bean Canvas Tote.
I am in love with this tote and I’ll tell you why. The person who designed it has impeccable taste. The black, the blue and the white just look fabulous together. What’s that you say? Who designed it then? Why moi , of course. Yes, it’s true. You can go to LL Bean and choose the colours you want and design the bag yourself. How clever is that? Very. They call it a ‘Custom Boat and Tote Bag’. You choose the size and all the details. It’s the best. You can also get a monogram with your initials on the pocket. Or the family crest. Check it out here.  US $43 plus shipping $35.

Gio Hidden Wedge Sneakers.
By the time summer arrives I think you’ll be used to seeing these fancy pancy heeled sneakers. I am mad about them because you get height for your stumpy legs while looking as if you are Mrs casual. I’m thinking white is chic for high summer or for when you are heading off to St Tropez or Bali such as my good self. They are cool with skinny jeans or slouchy Bassike jeans. Funny how we have got used to that whole low slung pant look don’t you think? AU$ 203.51 From Shopbop.

Karen Walker Soul Club - Fluro Orange
You will love these sunglasses I can just tell. I want them. I need them. And I think I could kiss them. Orange is one of the hot colours for summer. The shape is cool. Karen Walker always rocks in the sunglass department. Oh, they come in black as well. So put down the paper bag and relax. I must say they are so chic with the Sass and Bide top. The only thing you need with these ? Confidence darling . Accessories are the best way to add colour to your wardrobe. So you may as well start at the top of the body ( that way no one will look at the rest of your daggy look) $220 from Eyegoodies

JCrew silk colorblock pant
LOVE these sporty stripe pants. It seems a lot of designers showed this look for summer/ Resort 13. Designers in Paris /Milan /New York. The Big guns. Like Alexander Wang, Celine and Chloe and Philip Lim. And that’s why we love J Crew because they then take that look and adulterate it. For us. For a much more realistic price. Thank you. They work with heels as you can see.  (I’m not so keen on these heels but you get the idea.) It’s a little bit of a sporty look without going crazy. It’s not like you have to actually run in these pants. Or do any excercise. Add a structured jacket and you are a winner $175 from J. Crew

Sass and Bide top
For some reason this Sass and Bide top appeals to me.  It has the allure of seeming sporty. That silver stripe is so cool. I prefer stripes to florals. It’s more dramatic. Less frou frou. Just sayin. You get all the colours you need in this one top. Black, silver grey, orange and white: that’s all you need. It’s a great top to throw under a shrunken blazer with skinny jeans. A great way to add colour to your black low slung pants. $220 from Sass and Bide

Nike Feather Weight Cut Out Women’s Sweatshirt
I think I want this top. I just found it on the Nike site. Who knew they were doing cool sporty day into evening looks? Give me a cut out top any day or night. Love this with a leather skirt. LOVE. Or with leather pants. Or leather shorts. Or with white jeans and Celine heels. You get the picture. Take it out of the sporty store and dress it up. Grey marle is tres cool and has been for seasons. Dries Van Noten, Jul Sander anyone?. It comes in black too. Phew. $100 from Nike

Country Road Hooded Parka
I know. You are a little shocked. There is a bit of pink in The FiFi Report . Actually it’s not really pink. But I can’t call it watermelon because it’s such an annoying colour too. Anyway it’s more of a bright neon shade in real life. But what I wanted to show you from this shot from Country Road also was the styling.  Stay with me. You see it’s about the track pants with the short heeled boots. The white top under a sporty jacket. In a bright colour. You can get those track pants everywhere. Then wear them with heels and a blazer. But you know that because I have been ranting on about that look for, like, forever. $99 From Country Road

Sportsgirl Bree high top
I found these cute shoes in sportsgirl. Not quite a sneaker. Not quite an Isabel Marant high top. A little fashion. A little sporty. Love the grey what can I say? So right for weekends, travelling or dagging around being a dag. Try them with jeans or white wide leg pants. Or navy wide legs pants and a crop denim jacket. Oh, go on add a stripe tee while you are at it. Perfect for the beach , or whatever. I just like them. There’s no secret way to wear them. $19 from Sportsgirl.
