The FiFi Report 360

My picks this week; Basically we are in between seasons in the fashion world but it’s freezing outside so I say we still want to buy winter clothes ( I am dying to snuggle up into fur trimmed parkas, trench coats and pea coats). ….This week I am zeroing on one piece in each store that is a must buy…sale or otherwise .

Sportsgirl :
I see a lot of bright neon in store: it’s a hot trend and very Christopher Kane inspired. It’s great in small doses if you work it back with black or taupe. My pick, though, this week is the lovely sheer burgundy or black blouse with full sleeves and a perfect round neckline. Darling, if you name is Kate Moss you can wear it with nothing underneath if you so desire but I suggest a simple stretchy singlet or a lace camisole. This is so chic under a blazer with jeans or peg leg pants. $79. By the way sheer is a big trend for next season but it’s a tricky look so you have to tone it down to carry it off with aplomb.

Zara;
The sale keeps going and it’s a little crazy in there: My picks would be any of the cotton skinny pants in red or cobalt (and yes, duh, stone or black). Now $39. But I love the A-line grey wool bias cut skirt that is very 70’s: it sits on the waist and then is a little longer and goes just over the fat knees. This is good news for obvious reasons! This new groovy length is making a come back. Say aurevoir to those mini skirts girls. You can see this skirt is very inspired by the look of  Taylor Tomasi Hill . How chic ! Take inspiration from her by investing in trans-seasonal pieces: wear this skirt now with short ankle boots and opaques with a crop leather jacket. But come summer it’s fabulous with a white shirt and cute heels. You could even wear the new length skirt as she does with a cute sweater over a kooky shirt.  $59. LOVE.

Witchery :
I know you may already have invested in the look but the anorak is great to wear right this minute : Get out and buy it now: It’s always a cool look over knits and jeans but fabulous over a sexy print dress and short ankle boots. Sex it up! You want the anorak here in chic in stone cotton/nylon with front patch pockets, a drawstring waist and hem and a “Button down rain guard: yes, please ! Now $129.

Topshop;
Always worth snooping on this site because it’s so cheap to get it sent to Australia: This week I spied a black wool peacoat : it’s a less structured style which is kind of cool. It has an inverted pleat in the back so it gives a more of a swing look. Great if you want to be comfortable and eat a big lunch. It has cute grey details on the back of the collar. You can’t wrong for £60.00 plus £9.00  shipping. This is new winter 2011 season so shut up! Buy it and wear it toute suite.

Portmans:
I always have a snoop in here but quite frankly I am never impressed with the quality: sorry,  it looks cheap: Just because something is budget price doesn’t mean it should look cheap: let’s face it I will wear Cotton On, Jays Jays or Target if it looks expensive. That’s the trick non? Anyway I have ignored the classic pieces in here but I quite like the gold/bronze sequin cardigan jacket.  Yes, this style jacket has been around for seasons really, since Sienna Miller was first with Jude. But you know what: it’s still right: Anyway you know the drill: dress it down dude! You want to layer it over a white tee or white cotton shirt and then toss it back with jeans ( not ripped please) and with low key ballet flats. It’s a day to drink jacket: don’t look at it and think it’s for some snazzy evening event. Oh gawd no. If you think that: it’s official you’ve become your mother. Bless $169.

French Connection;
With this crazy cold weather I think we should all get into wearing a hat: It’s the cool look for sure but it takes a bit of guts to throw it on jauntily and dash off around the street. And can we talk helmet hair? Ewww. Never a good look. The great thing about wearing a hat like this one here is that you don’t really need to take it off wandering around the shops or going to have a coffee. It’s a weekend style hat.  At work? um, well you got to ditch it. Unless you are detective. $49.

David Lawrence :
Yes, I included a Burberry trench coat in last week’s best French essentials and guess what? I am happy to report DL have been very clever interpreting the Burberry trench. Very clever. It looks almost the same. Spooky. Anyway I don’t have to tell you it’s perfect for this weather. Best news? It’s longer and sits on the knee, it has Burberry style metallic buttons, and it’s double breasted. Tip: You need double breasted so that when the coat is undone it sits covering up the ’situation’ sitting on one’s tummy. Single breasted means it can gape open to reveal muffins and croissants. Nuf said. No photo: sorry. But you can know what it looks like. About $249 I think.

Country Road
I can always find great things here but this week it’s all looking very summery which is great if you are heading to St Tropez as I am (in my dreams late at night shivering wrapped up in my slanket ).  So to buy now and wear now? I must say the standout would be have to be the flat riding boots: looks like there is every size available on the website which is what we want. I love these boots because they are super simple without any tricks or straps. Perfect $299.

Zimmerman
There is a sale here of course so I suggest you snap up the delicious V Neck Cashmere Jumpers in Biscuit or black now $100 instead of $190. Otherwise I love the look of the manstyle cardigan with a rib trim. Now $120 from $240. The V neck sweater is a wardrobe essential and actually looks so chic with nothing under it as you can see here in grey below…
