The FiFi Report 340

So many winter clothes: not cold enough to wear any of it. I am looking for a few key winter pieces that stand out or simply some fabulous pieces to wear right now!

Economy Class:
My top picks for this week are:

  • Seed Femme: I see a cute jersey tweed blazer with rolled up sleeves. It’s a perfect little toss it on jacket.  Love over a tee with jeans or chinos. $199. Still after a stripe top? Head here for a cute white with black stripe top. So handy under a blazer. Stripe is like print when you can’t possibly do print. Anyway you can never have too many stripe tops. Just ask any Parisienne. $59.
  • Innovare for Myer: Love the taupe or black square toe sling backs. They have a square low heel and very 50’s inspired.  Think Louis Vuitton. The antithesis of the stomp-a-licious over the top platform heels. You should wear with a full 50’s skirt and a pretty soft sweater a la Alexa Chung. $229.
  • Aldo: You need to buy a pair of chunky heeled hiking boots. You need to if you want to look groovy anyway. So get used to the idea. I like the pair I saw here in Aldo. Lace up,  in a cotton fabric with a rubber sole $139. You will wear with skirts and black opaques or with loose peg leg pants. Remember a fabulous shoes will transform any daggy outfit . Whatever age you are.
  • Nine West: Love the round toe, lace up suede heels with a black leather trim. The heel is thin and not too high for staggering around for an hour or so. No panadol needed. $189. This is a good alternative to the lace up hiking boots that are going to invade us. There are some chic grey suede short ankle boots with a wedge that would be very handy in any wardrobe. $229. wedge+ ankle boot= groovy.
  • David Jones has Calvin Klein jeans and I spy a chic, faded denim shirt with cute puff shoulders and pearl buttons. Wear with a camel coat and grey pants. Go on. Denim shirts are sexy and cool. Wear with shorts and heels. If you can’t do short, shorts such as my good self ( George Clooney tells me he hates them) then you can rock a denim shirt tucked into a black pencil skirt. $180
  • French Connection : Check out the fabulous dark khaki chiffon blouse with epaulettes and patch pockets. Cool. You must wear tucked in. This is the shirt du jour. It will bring life to all that black in your wardrobe. It works with camel or navy. What more do you want ? $129.
  • Witchery: I see a fabulous black leather jacket $499. No, not economy price: sorry but it’s in Witchery. A little expensive but it has black gunmetal zip rather than those bright brass or silver which can be a bit full on. If you know what I mean. This biker jacket is simple with textured leather. You might just live in this. Remember it’s about wearing with pretty dresses and sexy shoes. There is a tan suede shearling leather jacket here as well for $999. Wow. Buy the camel wool melton double breasted long jacket : wear it and thrash it for winter. You could wear it undone or toss and twist a belt around it . $349. Love the long line camel princess coat too. chic.$349

Business Class:

  • Max and Co have a totally new winter collection to drool over. I see so many fabulous pieces. My fav is the black rabbit fur poncho cape. It’s a fur tea cosy ! I love it. Wear pulled off the shoulder. It’s quite short so you need to wear with high waist skirt or pants. Fur whether fake or faux fur is a huge trend. I repeat huge. Remember when going for black go for texture, shine or embellishment. Or fur. You will live in this all winter. If you don’t want the tea cosy look ( why ever not?) then it’s fine enough to wear as scarf, chic. $345.
Also love the Raccoon fur neck piece that ties up with a leather ribbon $440. Bless the raccoon. Any accessory like this is a wardrobe changer. Also check out the fabulous black grey silkm digital print,  long sleeve dress with a rib knit back, neckline and sleeves. Divine. $335.
Buy the black (or maybe dark grey?) leather biker jacket that is simple, simple, simple. It has one single zip and a round neckline. So right $825
Love and adore the black round toe long boots. Divine with a capital D.
  • Calvin Klein Jeans: I see a chic black leather biker jacket with detachable lining, $880. Yes, the leather biker jacket is back for another season as you can see. I think it’s about to peak in the groove Richter scale this season. Of course you have had years of wear from your leather bomber jacket that you bought when you were first instructed by FiFi way back in 2007!. Also at Calvin Klein jeans is a denim jumpsuit. It has shoe string straps and an elastic waist. Again I have been rabbiting on about jumpsuits for seasons- seasons - and now it’s nearing its climax so to speak. OK a denim jumpsuit is not for all ages, grandma! $330. .
  • Satch: if you are searching for a work wardrobe that is a little more exciting then head to Satch. I love the fabrics here and the fact that a lot of the dresses are sleeveless ( or have short sleeves) so you can wear right now. Woo hoo. You don’t need to wait for the cool weather. I like the fact that the length of the dresses are just on knee length. No flashing muffin knees! My picks here would be the black silk shifts or the long sleeve digital print dresses $279. Check out the pretty pussy bow blouses about $200 in cream or black. Please wear with pants : Not pencil skirts unless you are taking dictation for Mad Men’s Mr. Draper. Wear with skinny cargoes and undo the bow for a sexy blouse look. Please.
  • David Jones has the J Brand skinny cargoes. I did not know this so I am presuming they have just jetted in this season. Anyway they are THE skinny cargoes to wear and everyone swears by them. And they look pretty cool. And if Natalie Massenet from Net a Porter, who is 45 and fabulous, can wear them so then so can I. Of course I have a feeling that Country Road may be copied them but these are the original $329.
  • Also in David Jones is a pretty fab Armani Jeans khaki parka. So you see Khaki is hanging in there for another season and the parka is back and was all over New York fashion week : it’s about wearing a parka over a dress or with something feminine. With heels. Not baggy parachute pants. Unless you are in Afghanistan. Bless. I think this parka has a detachable fur lining and hood. $569.
  • Also in DJ’s Bondi Junction is Vanessa Bruno. So you must have a snoop. I like the black wool crepe pants with high waist, flat front and 2 patch pockets and a classic leg. You can never have too many black pants. $499. There is a cool floaty grey check smock as well with leather yoke trim. Great with long boots for winter and under a leather jacket. $699.
  • Maison Scotch is a new brand I spied in David Jones as well. It must be French. I Ike it. Great cut, great prices. Check out the tan/rust double breasted peacoat with brass buttons in a worsted wool .$354. It looks so French and chic. I must recommend having a good look at this brand.
  • Country Road: the best new pieces in this week are the long grey maxi skirt in a jersey. Yes, the long skirt for day is here and we saw it on the street at New York and London fashion week . It’s a tricky look, what can I say? It’s probably easier to wear right now in the warm weather with a classic tee and flats, than later in winter. In winter it’s about wearing a long skirt in the day with flat boots and a biker jacket. $129.
There is also a grey marle jersey bomber jacket. It’s like a fitted zip bomber jacket in tee shirt fabric. Tres cool.  $129.
Buy the very groovy grey wool really cropped vest. It’s short, baby, so short so it just sits under your boobs. Well, just under mine anyway. It’s a funky little number to throw on over a white shirt, a fine knit sweater or with a tee. It’s a crossover collarless, sleeveless vest. It sits under the jacket below. Seems very Ann Demeulemeester or Margiela inspired. This is a good thing. $129.
