Witchery:
So many new fabulous pieces in store! it’s looking a little more sophisticated.
My picks are:
- The navy blouse with black animal print : it’s, of course, very Lanvin but you knew that. It has puff shoulders and then tight arms on the sleeves and a fabulous round neckline: As I mentioned last season if you are going to do animal print please be careful. Stick to navy and black version and you will be ok. The classic over the top leopard print in browns can be scary if it’s not Prada or Dolce Gabbana. Funny thing is that it was Cotton On who first cottoned onto this looklast summer as a one shoulder dress: Now turning up in other stores. Buy and wear this blouse now and wear into winter.
- You want the soft, satin silky camisole that has a necklace attached. How clever. Love it when the designers do the hard work for you .It’s a lovely colour, as you can see, in a flesh caramel and has black grosgrain ribbon straps $149. This is not for the office. Or the beach for that matter but we do love it with your fav black harem pants or skinny jeans
- Buy the very Balmain inspired white knit sweater with black sequin stripes: Another cool top to wear into winter under a blazer. It’s the winter version of the stripe Tee and you should wear it a la Balmain , you know with the skinny ripped jeans. Not to be worn in a preppy way. Rough it up a bit please $149
- Love the black faded cotton stretch jeggins: what are jeggins? A mix of tight leggings/jeans. You would know what jeggins were if you were thinking you had the legs to wear them. $139
- Buy the fabulous grey marle ( or black ) round neck sleeveless tank with inbuilt shoulder pads. The pads are small and just look right. This top is a winner and it’s perfecto to wear now. You will love the shoulder pads when you see what they can do to your waist. This is a core piece to your wardrobe and a must buy. So shut up ..$49
- I see a Balenciaga inspired bag here that is not bad but a very obvious copy. Bless.

French Connection:
You can always find great fashion pieces that are not too young and silly. If you know what I mean.
My picks are:
- The black boyfriend jacket in a cotton satine : single breasted with two buttons $189. Do you know the difference between a boyfriend jacket, a blazer and a waiter’s jacket? Let me explain: a boyfriend is the one George Clooney gave you to slip on. It’s roomy and square and almost covers your bottom. Or if you are Kate Moss all of your bottom. A blazer is more structured with a waist and tailoring and is a little shorter. The waiter’s jacket is shorter and almost sits on the waist but has a more tailored shape. It looks like a waiter’s jacket.
- Love the grey wool melton peacoat/military jacket: it’s a dark grey and as we all know grey is the hot colour for winter . The great thing about a grey jacket is that you can throw it over black and voila: instant wardrobe update. This will work with short skirts and boots. $239
- You want the very Chanel style quilted bag fabric with a chain strap: a cheap but chic of the week $59.
- Check out the stripe tees: always perfect especially the black and white tight stripe tee with ruffles as sleeves. Makes it tricky to wear a jacket because you will squish them $69
- Buy the fabulous grey mohair knit Tee with a scattering of small silver sequins around the neckline and sleeves: fabulous $129
- There is also some cool silver crisscross strappy platforms heels with a wooden sole and heel and brass buckles $149. Love with black opaques when it gets cooler. Love silver shoes to add a bit of vava voom to any outfit. Let’s face it you can be adventurous with shoe when you can’t be with clothes.

There are a few great ageless pieces here; I am not looking for teenage looking pieces; after all it’s my job to search for things I can wear . So you don’t have to..
My picks here :
- The leather jacket : it’s short and has cute pockets on the front and interesting stitching…it’s not a biker jacket. It doesn’t have too many exposed zips or anything outrageous but looks rather chic. It is short and cropped so it will work with high waist pants and skirts. It does have a zip front with two pockets on the front and cuffs to turn up. I like the paneling and stitching: Plus it seems to be in a few colours form tan to black and a soft teal almost royal navy blue. $400
- There is also a very military style leather jacket with silver buttons and loops across the front : very fashion. Best wear this with classics to keep the look simple. And don’t pick up a trumpet or drums or you are in trouble. $420
- There is a lot of black here but I also see hot pink. And I kept walking. And went over to the rack with a tomato red tunic dress with a layer of chiffon over the top of it. It’s a double layer Tank dress and basically it’s very loose with a drawstring hem. Very casual , would look great with flats and perfect to wear right now. Or when you have had too many almond magnums $130.
- Love the digital flower print soft silky dress : the digital print dress is hot: This is in lovely swirly colours with a caramel background so the whole thing has a soft feel to it. It looks like melted icecream. It’s a simple, sleeveless straight up and down dress but it has ruffles all way from the shoulders to hem. Oh and they have been thoughtful inserting a little elastic at the waist to give you one. Cool $99 You can see the skirt version here ( but not sure about the styling…please don’t do that)

Country Road;
Looking great here: So many good pieces for summer going into winter.
You want :
- The white Tee with a black photo print along the bottom. $49. Perfect under a black boyfriend blazer.
- The black peacoat ¾ length in wool twill :It has epaulettes and pockets and all sorts of details but it’s great : not too heavy and will work with jeans and LBD and floral dresses $399
- The grey drape dress : it looks like it will stick to the cellulite blobs on the thighs but in fact it seems to a great cut. It might be a bit short and cover the cellulite blobs on the knees but, hey, you can cover those in winter with opaques.
- I want the caramel silky drape carrot pants $139 with a flat front so groovy. And it’s nice to lighten up the wardrobe.
- You should invest in the handy black lurex tank: Remember with black go for shimmer, sheen, texture or embroidery. Anything but basic. This will work with so many jacket into Autumn $79
- You want something to suck in the muffin top? you need the black corset Tee . Snazzy $89
- In accessories you want the metallic long sleeve gloves $99, the Alexander Wang style zips crinkled leather shoulder bags and the shoes that have nearly sold out with an ankle strap and a small ( gasp ) heel $199

Armani A/X:
It can get a bit bright and glitzy here, a bit over complicated with logos and Armani all over everything. Ironic since it was Armani who was known for starting the clean, simple, understated dressing trend…
My picks this week are:
- The relaxed navy, loose round neck, knit sweater with silver lurex stripes : it’s cool. Wear with skinny black jeans. Or a pencil skirt. Probably not too hot to wear now if you live in Tasmania. $139
- Check out the Grey marle oversized knit sweater dress: it’s short with a self belt and rib along the bottom . It has sweatshirt detailing if you know what I mean. The sweater dress is still a look for winter (just not the new look) and this is the updated version $169
- You want the grey drape front jersey :Yes, they are everywhere this season and I am so glad I bought one from CK last year. This version is a little different and it has few silver studs on one shoulder. That’s right just on one shoulder. See what I mean in that it can be a little tricked up here? $129
- Love the black leather jacket : it’s a biker shape with zips. You know how to wear this so you just need to know that there is one here to try on. The quality of leather is quite good but is it worth $600? Not sure.
- Buy the grey marle knit hoodie dress: it has a rib trim along the hem and a zip. Just like a real hoodie. How would you wear this? Well I’d say lying on the couch relaxing. Not sure about the shoe situation but it could be with converse. And leggings. Can’t see it with heels which may limit people who don’t get out of bed except to wear heels $189
- Some of you might like the dark denim fitted dress with no stitching and a exposed back zip. It has a swear heart neckline and shoe string straps and it’s very fitted at the waist with cute pockets on the side. Love it with heels and a blazer. $249
Max and Co
Love to head in here for great quality pieces at great prices; Not a lot of crazy colour but that won’t hurt you….
My picks of the new winter collection are:
- The fabulous dark grey puffa jacket with cut off sleeves: it’s almost a puffa cape! It’s rather chic and works for warm winters when you probably don’t get much of a chance to wear a puffa jacket at all. I think it has a zip front and a simple neckline and it’s quite tailored so you don’t look like the Michelin Man and fatty arbuckle $445.
- On sale: is the chic blue denim blazer with orange stitching now $248. it’s a great buy because everyone needs a blazer and you can throw this with harem pants and black jeans as well as over a dress. Maybe not denim on denim even though a few magazines are showing the look, it’s too hard to do in real life. Britney anyone?
- There is a divine leather bomber jacket now on sale : $600. it’s very soft leather but it has all sorts of zips and pockets but the colour is fabulous and you will throw this over a pretty floral dress and skip away. In your stomp-a-licious heels.
- Buy the pretty silky paisley dress in oranges/burgundy/brown with a dash of navy $400: the long sleeve dress is a must buy for winter and this little number will work with boots and under coats. It will work with bare legs too. it has a V neck so it’s a great cut.
- Love the black peacoat in a wool gabardine with no belt and a classic shape and black buttons. So French how can you not own a peacoat? Love it over a stripe knit with jeans. Love it with a leather skirt or with you faded grey jeans. $780
- I want the black fabric bag with huge chain straps in distressed silver $249
