The FiFi Report 265

Economy Class:

Sussan
You will find classic versions of the trends coming through for summer… and lots of fab pyjamas. My picks are:

  • The drawstring dark blue denim shirt dress $99. It’s very beachy with buttons down the front and rolled up sleeves and pockets at the front. It has a drawstring low on the waist and I think it’s quite short. Not sure if I like this with leggings. Think that’s a little daggy and we can’t have you looking like that.
  • Everyone needs a boyfriend jacket this season. Check out the one here in a light grey cotton with must have stripe lining when you turn up the cuffs. (THE only way to wear it.) Love a boyfriend jacket with narrow jeans or over a dress. Because it’s a square shape you don’t have to wear voluminous bottoms. Or you will look fat. Oh god. Sorry to swear at you but who wants to look bigger than they are? $119. You can add more shoulder pads if you want to.
  • Check out the tie dye blue Tee, it’s a very casual look but be careful of all this BOHO. It’s NO NO when you look at next winter, which is tailored sharp and lady like. You don’t want to spend much on this Haute Hippy look. Add this to dark jeans. No beads please unless you live in a commune and smoke hooch. Peace man about $59.
  • Much more this season is the sophisticated sequin tank in a blush soft pink, $149. It is pretty and chic and you can tone this down by wearing this with grey marle. I like a sequin tank with trousers because it adds that casual edge. With a skirt it can get a bit dressy. Throw back with chinos or jeans and heels and you have the look. Also check out the grey tank with clear sequins on it $69.
  • Buy the faded grey and white stripe T-shirt dress on sale $59. It’s short but good for the beach holiday you are having in St Tropez.
  • If you are not a designer jean snob then check out the faded baggy boyfriend jeans her, they look good! $89.
  • You want the silver (is that a scoop neck?) tank in silvery sheen, $39. This is a good alternative to sequins to toss back with jeans and to add a bit of texture and shine to all your daggy clothes.
  • I see a pretty black sheer blouse with puff shoulders and short sleeves: it has pleats at the bodice and is chic. This is a great piece to wear to the office and then out with jeans or your peg leg pants. Will look good under a blazer. This is a great trans-seasonal piece you can wear now and into summer, $79.
  • Wonder why the drop crutch harem pants are on sale here at Sussan? How could that be? Now $49.

Forever New
This store has some great fashion pieces. In winter there were some fabulous coats that looked very Max Mara for a ¼ of the price. Go past the racks of the over the top stuff. And it is stuff. My picks are:

  • The cool black leather jackets with quilting at the shoulder and down the side: it has silver zips and a puff shoulder and a round neckline. What a great price. There is a cream version but you don’t want that. Oh no you don’t. $229. Do I have to tell you how to wear a leather jacket? See the photos from Jak and Jil of the Traina sister in Paris for the Couture below to get an idea.
  • There is also another black bomber leather jacket without the quilting and simple understated silver zips, $229.
  • You want the silver sequin or white tank tops in a rib cotton with a smattering of sequins so not too glitzy, $39. Warning! Warning! Sequin tops will be everywhere this summer. Of course I told you to buy a sequin top (in The FiFi Report months and months ago) and so you are already rocking the look. There are chic grey marle ones here at Forever New for $69.
  • For a cute everyday dress you want the cotton jersey sleeveless dress in a grey and black. I like it. It has a grey simple tank top and then the skirt part of the dress is a black cotton jersey with a turned up bubble hem. It has a black elastic bit around the waist. Take it out of the store and it will look much more expensive. Add monster killer heels and you have the look for $89. Wear right now with a blazer with the sleeves rolled up to the elbows and with black opaques.
  • Love the black glomesh slouch bag: it’s almost sausage shape but rather fab for evenings. What more do you want for $59? You can just say it’s vintage or Jimmy Choo.
  • Checkout the cute black denim jacket: it’s seriously short cropped with black buttons, $69. It has a round collar and covered button and you need to wear it with high waist skirts and pants. It will be fabulous over a print dress too.
  • If you are after a maxi dress then buy the long paisley print dress with an ombre that fades from purple to watermelon, $199. The Maxi dress is hot again for summer but always wear with flats. Tip: be careful with the BOHO look it’s very hard to carry off. You can look like a messy train wreck. Yes You. The only people who did it well were Kate Moss and Sienna Miller. But oh they don’t even wear it anymore. Nuf said.
  • Are we sick of harem pants yet? Can someone tell me: I see them in every shop but who is wearing them except moi? (and I wear the peg leg version not the nappy drop crutch version).

  • This is the way to sequins it day ( and leather jackets)

Esprit
There are always great weekend basics here and simple Tees… My favourite pieces are:

  • The chic cotton single breasted black blazer. A must buy in anyone’s wardrobe this summer and you can put the shoulder pads in yourself. That will take it to new heights of fashion fabulousness, $139. It has a couple of front pockets and black buttons.
  • Love the faded blue denim blazer. This is a great piece for work (if you can do a more casual look). You can wear it with a chic dress and black opaques or toss it back with a leather skirt. Perfect in summer with short shorts. And fabulous long legs but I don’t know where you can buy those, $139.
  • You want the EDC black leather with a detachable hoodie. Love it. It has a few front pockets and a front zip. Did you know you can wear this with a pencil skirt? And toss it over a dress. You can rock your harem pants with this jacket too, $499. But you knew that.
  • Feeling cold? You need the fabulous EDC puffa jackets here in an amazing silver grey. Love it, $189.
  • Buy the black/blue check peacoat with a belt in wool. There is always a need for another peacoat. This is just what you need for weekends where you can toss on a jacket with jeans and look understated chic. Now on sale $189.
  • The cute multi print smock top in cotton with a swirl pattern on a white background. It has a round neck and ¾ sleeves: it’s a handy piece to add a little colour and movement to jeans, $89.
  • Check out the white jeans with a classic leg and not obvious stitching, $89. White jeans are great if you have toddlers who are playing with puppies in the mud.

Business Class:

CK Calvin Klein
It’s all fabulous and you can’t miss this sale with up to 60% off. The quality is divine and the prices are amazing. It’s a must GO! Best buys are:

  • The chic grey or black slightly shimmer racer back tanks now $48. They have a lovely cotton trim around the edge of the sleeves and an elastic strap across the back. Wear right now in the chill under your blazer and then in summer with a pencil skirt or chinos. Love it.
  • You want the beautiful cross over simple black jersey drape dresses now $200. There are a few dresses here all fabulous quality and in architectural shapes. There is always something happening even though the cut is very simple and strong. This look is soooo much chicer than that messy BoHo look. Buy one of the many black or pale blue dresses about $100.
  • Also check out very architectural grey jersey dress with kimono sleeves about $139.
  • There are also hot pink dresses for $200! Yes you can wear pink if it’s Calvin Klein.
  • Love, love, love the men’s zip up wool hoodie with a satin trim and a high collar now $156. Gorgeous quality. I tried it on and the small will fit a girl. Wear this with peg leg pants or with a pencil skirt. Sporty luxe is still a strong trend for summer (look at Chanel).
  • Adore the simple cap sleeve cotton satine tops now about $100. The cap sleeves comes out over the shoulder giving the impression of a shoulder pad. Oh it does fabulous things to your muffin arms and seems to make your arms look slimmer. Yes, please.
  • Invest in one of the divine men’s T-shirts now $24. So chic with a double colour and beautiful fabric.
  • Adore the grey long sleeve batwing loose tops with a drape front now $64. Wow what a price. The fabric is beautiful and you will wear this all through summer.
  • Buy the chic grey knit tea cosy poncho: it has a very subtle almost invisible glitter through the knit, $215. That will keep you warm.
  • Adore the grey or black wool melton twill round neck cocoon jacket now about $300. It has covered buttons and a round neckline and is quite the most fabulously chic winter coat.
  • There are harem pants now about $100 and then drool over the bags, shoes and scarves and belts and…

Mimco
I see a lot of new bags and jewellery instore. Best buys would be the:

  • The chic shoe boots in black or grey suede with a swirl patchwork and a peep toe and a little zip detail. They are called ‘Glow in the Dark Bootie’, $349.
  • Love the silver glomesh bag for evening in gunmetal with an asymmetrical flap detail, $299. Perfect for evenings.
  • My favourite bag is a very Pierre Hardy style bag: it’s structured in black leather and black patent trim. It’s called the ‘UNE Pocket Day Bag’. It has double shoulder straps and has slide tab closure on front pocket, $499. Elegant.
  • You need a shoulder bag this season: The ‘Jefferson Hip Bag’ in buffalo leather has a vintage look. It has an adjustable strap across body in different dark blues, $379.
  • Need a bag that is seriously functional for traveling? You need the ‘Luxe Lock’ Tote. It is in black nylon with a two handles and a big silver clasp and adjustable long strap. This is tres practical and sometimes we need that (and who wants the Birkin to get trashed?), $249.
  • In the jewellery check out the ‘Betty Noir Ring’ with black Jet Swarovski crystal and hematite Swarovski crystal set in an antique silver plated pewter: it’s big and bold and chic, $149.
  • Everyone should have a cuff for summer and I love the silver cuffs that are very, very wide called the ‘Nomad Cuff’ for $199.
  • You want a few of the ‘Mod Tough Love’ bracelets with ivory leather threaded through silver plated brass chain. Very Chanel inspired, $99 and the chunky silver chain bracelets to stack up your arm so people can always hear you coming for $89.

Longchamps
I love this store: it’s chic, it’s so French and the quality is fabulous. Everyone needs a Longchamps tote for traveling and a messenger bag to toss over your shoulder: it’s the only thing to be seen in at the airport, non? Best picks are:

  • In the new collection the black faux stamped snakeskin large tote with two handles and a flap over pocket with orange lining, $1900. You can always find everything in the depths of the bag when the lining is red or orange. So thoughtful.
  • Please buy the patent leather chic de la chic clutch bags in red, taupe, blue and black. They have a flap over and an outside zip, and the Longchamps logo that is very subtle on the front. Very similar to what Marc Jacobs and Jimmy Choo have done on their bags, $600. The same clutch in a black leather with gold zips is about $800. Gorgeous.
  • Love the black, grey and white nylon animal print messenger bag with a black woven strap. Now that’s an animal print that is chic and not at all tacky. Throw that over everything to add a little irreverence, $495. You also want the black and white nylon animal print zip front larger bag about $675.
  • Adore the big black bag two handle tote with lots of gold zips, pockets and a top zip in gold hardware, $1900.
  • I love the bag in the window which is in a caramel leather: it’s a very tall standup tote with two handles, almost in a shape like a doctor’s bag. It has chic stitching. About $1900.
  • Also there is the black chic tote with cream leather front about $1100 and no obvious hardware or stitching and very understated.
  • You want the black or dark grey patent belt with a simple silver buckle: gorgeous about $495 and of course the wallets, the diaries, the makeup bags and the messenger bags… Need I go on?

First Class:

Prada
I have not been back to The Mothership for months. How can this be? It’s important to come here to pay respect and pray at the Alter of the high priestess Miuccia. The winter collection arrived instore last week and what can I say? It’s all you ever wanted. I die, I die.
Tip: when you go out shopping please save Prada to the end of the day, everything fades in comparison (everything apart from Chanel).
And yes, most of the collection is black (with a dash of red and orange). You will drool over:

  • The most amazing black leather jacket, it’s a blazer shape with perfect sharp shoulders and gunmetal zips. Quite the most divine thing I have seen in months, $4000.
  • You will adore and cry over the perfect black cotton twill, sharp shoulder blazer, $2000. This is delicious.
  • Drool over the rack of black dresses: Love the simple shift dress with the perfect high round neckline (What? No scoop?) and fitted to the waist. It will last you forever, $1800.
  • The black princess coat is quite divine with a fitted waist and covered buttons and amazing pleating in wool melton, $3300.
  • Sob over (but find a tissue you don’t want to dribble) the black peacoat that has blazer style lapels, then zooms in and hugs the waist and then flares out into a cocoon shape with black jewel buttons, $2800.
  • Drool over the black silk trench coat: when you have an addiction you should have the best there is… about $2000.
  • The black fur long sleeveless vest is faaaabulous and it has its own leather belt. I waaaant it so bad. Sorry PETA. $3400.
  • In the shoes and accessories you want the perfect black leather ankle boots with a mini platform with elastic side and lots of patchwork and stitching if you get what I mean. All black of course. You want to kiss them they are so gorgeous, $990.
  • The brown suede long flat boots are quite divine: You could take them home and stroke them for hours on end. Oh and wear them too. They have a little fold over top. Over the knee boots are THE accessory for next winter. About $1500.
  • Buy the black sling back heels with a peep toe and a thin heel but the front is covered in a tough gladiator style. Adore. Adore, I die, I die, I die and go bananas Rachel Zoe style, $860.
  • In the bags there are all the latest styles: ruched, faded leather crinkled, the slouch, the tan with gold hardware. Then you want the divine…

Chanel
It is so divine in here and of course you will love everything. Karl is a genius. Coco would be amazed her jackets still look so right in 2009. The incredible Paris Moscow and the sport collection are both instore. You will drool like a fool over:

  • The beautiful red/orange tweed classic Chanel jacket with a black trim around the collar and cuffs and down the front… it has two pockets at the front and a hidden zip. I think it’s hidden because I can’t see it …for you $9100.
  • Love the black ¾ trench coat that is zip up and belted, $4000.
  • Adore the big black patent open two handle tote, $5000. It’s all you need.

  • You will die to have black platform heels: they are a classic round toe pump with a patent toe but they have a single row of a pearl trim around the heels, $1700.
  • Love the classic ballet flats, $840 and the navy silk peep toe heels with a little camellia detail on the square heel, $1000.
  • You will be crying over the long silver pearl necklace with a little Russian Doll hanging at the end, $2000. So cute.
  • Love the amazingly chic green and black stone brooch: Gorgeous, $2140. Also buy the red stone brooch about $800.
  • I would die to have the red mink fur collar $2000 and all the rings…
