Laws of Attraction
I had been hearing about this movie for long time, a new romantic comedy based on Hepburn and Tracey, so I wasn’t going to be put off by that naughty Margaret Pomerantz saying bad things about it l(ike Julieanne Moore was absolutely terrible.) Outrageous. Anyway we needed something light to watch after Mike Moore Fahrenheit 9/11. Maybe we should have checked out Rotten Tomato’s Tomatometer’ where it gets only 19% of good reviews (Read=rotten). Oh dear. I really wanted to like a movie about two divorce lawyers who are total opposites, who are supposed to hate each other but then fall in love. Such nonsense always makes a great romantic comedy. But I missed one big sign: Pierce Brosman. Should have known after seeing ‘Evelyn’ when he has anything to do with producing and acting, it’s going to be downhill all the way. Downhill ike the slalom in the Olympics. Yes Margaret you are right. This movie makes Pretty Woman look like a fabulous film. In fact Julieanne Moore is so embarrassed to be in this movie, she is cringing as much as we were. And can we talk about the terrible clothes? The stupid story? As one reviewer said” it’s a movie you forget while you are watching it”. Mmm. Which of course is George Bush’s view on life. He forgets what’s happening when he is living it. Yes, Fahrenheit 9/11 is fascinating watching, great movie making, a fantastic propaganda film. And cringe worthy for all the right reasons. God Bless America.
