What a lovely movie this is…From the trailer it looked a bit streety kind of “you’re a motherfucker “ kind of movie but no! au contraire! It’s almost dare I say a romantic comedy (how did I get into a movie like that?) a story about a poor Hispanic family of 2 boys and girl who live in New York with their grandmother. Victor is the eldest brother and his actual brother plays his, um brother! There was no script apparently these guys had never acted before, it’s all hand held close up photography but it’s really charming and funny and no mother fuckers in it!
Laurel Canyon
This movie was so great the people in the seat in front turned around to discuss it! A postmortem movie club! Well you’ve got to love a movie whose opening scene has the handsomest man in Hollywood (sorry George) playing a doctor who is going down on his girl friend!! (With no nude scenes) Well I never! Can’t fault this movie! Great script: layer upon layer it’s like a French pastry and just as delicious! About a young doctor (Christian Bale from American Psycho) taking his girlfriend home to Laurel Canyon to stay with his cool record producer mother played by Frances Macdormand. The plot thickens…
