Remember me (Ricordati di Me)

I don’t care what they said on The Movie Show, this was a very enjoyable movie. Even if they do all scream and shout at each other like crazy, mad Italians. From the same director of ‘The Last Kiss’, it’s ironic he’s called his next movie ‘Remember Me’. Yes, we will after seeing all that carry on. I’d like to call it a romp. But as one review said ‘it is a long-winded and often over-the-top Italian soap opera about a neurotic, middle-class Roman family.” The father hates working in the corporate world and bumps into his old girlfriend played by Monica Bellucci. You know as soon as you see her beautiful face, it’s TROUBLE. Fantastic. His wife tries to regain her lost dreams of being an actress and gets a crush on her gay male director (oops). The 18 year old daughter wants to be a star on a tacky Italian TV show and sleeps her way to the top. (Lovely.) The 19 brother is “a chronic masturbator who’s chronically shy’ (lovely). And ‘buys drugs in an attempt to make friends” (Double lovely.) They all shout and scream at one another and you don’t really like any of them, but it’s riveting, and there are some very amusing scenes. The Italians would have loved it. And how chic is Monica Bellucci in plain white shirts with no accessories? It puts you off wearing any Bling or prints ever again. And it’s so nice to sit back and watch scenes of Rome and handsome Italian men wearing sexy raincoats and pastel sweaters thrown over their shoulders. That’s worth $10.
