The Story of Fashion with Karl Lagerfeld - Rememberance of Things Past; Art & Sport of Fashion; Age of Dissent (2010)…DVD narrated by Karl Lagerfeld

This week we have a DVD instead of a book.  Cathy Horyn  on her blog at The New York Times explains: “The Story of Fashion,” a three-part series presenting 100 years of fashion, was first shown in 1987 and was narrated by Karl Lagerfeld. The films have been reissued as a DVD set, and they are still pretty interesting and informative, if dated in places. Of course, the designers look astonishingly young. Mr. Lagerfeld, without his many rings, discusses everything from French court clothes to Mary Quant, and there are some fascinating bits with people such as the late illustrator Antonio Lopez.”
‘On its excursions to the different fields of fashion, the trilogy moves through cultural history, pointing out trendsetters from art, music and film, and portrays a great number of influential fashion designers such as Poiret, Chanel, Schiaparelli, Quant and Dior. Along with Lagerfeld, the designers Armani, Donna Karan and the critic Carrie Donovan afford us fascinating insights into the sensual world of fashion.’Fabulous!
