Conde Nast Traveller UK Feb:
Oh dear, it is a problem when travel stories on Tsunami hit areas start to turn up. This month’s issue has a story on the gorgeous Islands off India, called the Lakshadweep Islands, which look like an Island paradise. Let’s hope it still is, bless. Also read about Nicaragua for an adventure holiday or please go and stay in Antigua, especially at Carlisle Bay, for a luxury one. Everyone has written about it (http://www.carlisle-bay.com.)There is a fab story on the most glamorous ski resort in the world: Courchevel and the family that made it ( check out the face lifted mother in the Hummer) or if you are in London, get out!! And head to Salamanca in Spain for along weekend, it looks cool.
Metropolitan Home March:
This magazine is going monthly, interesting to see if they can keep up the groovy houses. This is issue is on ‘American style now’ and some could wonder if that is an oxymoron. But leave it to two ‘metrosexuals’ art directors (give or take a homo or two) to not let the Team America down! Their stone farm house in country Pennsylvania is simple minimal and chic. This is not such an inspiring issue but the story on the new restaurant at the MOMA in NYC is great and I like the recipes too.
UK Vogue March:
Is it me? Or does everyone look at these fashion pages and say ‘what ever happened to just beautiful?”. The new fashion silhouette is all about volume (think 80’s/new romantics/big clothes…aaahhh) I don’t think there is one shot I look at and say I want to look like that ( except a shot of a YSL dress) and I am a fashion person.God help the civilians out there who just want to get dressed in the morning. But there is always lots to read: the wardrobe diaries of 3 social butterflies in London, New York,Paris and LA , the story called ‘Go figure’ on volume: oversized shirts, billowing skirts and floaty dresses, and a story on Liam Neeson and his role in Kinsey. A big issue, worth buying.
