Anna Dello Russo J’Adr!

When so many terrible things are happening in the world you’ve got to love the fabulous …she will always make us laugh! J’ADR!

“Cherry. Cherry, on my ‘ead, This is cherry. I like ‘ead pieces. I love them. I met Sarah Jessica Parker. I love ‘er! I was wearing a watermelon in my hair! She look at me like: ‘Oh! Where she from?’”

“Fashion, in me, is folie, is sickness! I never bored of fashion. It is my vision for life. Reality for me is too tough. Fashion is an escape. Fashion! Is my addiction! Is better than drugs”

“Sometimes I feel ridiculous, but it’s in a good way. Like the watermelon [she wore on her head], I love that. It’s such an Italian touch of humour.”

” At this time, I find a new life. Really. A new life. A new energy. Something happen! Be visible! You know when you feel inside, fresh air, you want to go, you don’t know why. Before this, no visible! Invisible! Like Cinderella, working like a cow!”

“In the beginning, we [all Schulman's notable fashion editor targets] were shy! We didn’t understand, we didn’t have the confidence with the poses, in the middle of the street, in front of everyone! It was funny at the beginning!”

“In magazine, I say, I was in ivory tower. I didn’t have time to listen [to readers]. You don’t feel the people, you get list of number [circulation figures, I presume] but… and feedback come one month later. Internet is immediate! Make contact, I feel my audience! I understand what they like! They make a break in the rules! They talk to you!”

“I spend all my life in fashion! I don’t have children. I actually have a dog. And I lost my husband anyway. Because he said: ‘Too much clothes, in your house!’ He said to me: ‘Where is the space for me?’ I said: ‘There is no space for you.’ He says: ‘Where is the space in the closet?’ There is no space in the closet! He says: ‘Are you crazy?’ Then he left. No space for ‘im!”

“My dog, she doesn’t need the space in the closet. She doesn’t like clothes. I tried to put on some clothes, she hates!”

Portmans black leather skirt

Reasons to love Portmans black leather swing skirt:

  • Because leather is hot, hot, hot and a huge trend for winter.
  • Because why wait for winter? When you can wear it right now with a grey marle tee, bare legs and Chloe wedges….. Read more here on

FiFi’s best buys of the week.

Economy Class:

My picks this week:

  • If you want to get into the aviator jacket look then try on the brown leather aviator leather jacket : it’s not exactly cheap but it is leather and it’s cool. Sure to keep you warm! It’s the jacket that is everywhere this season: so just get into it and thrash the look. Love an aviator jackets with high waist wide trousers or with a flirty skirt. See below. If you are very chic you could try the look with the new longer length ( we love!) grey skirt like this shot of  the Marie Claire US editor You want her fabulous boots and the chunky hose too…$299
  • So I suggest you slip into the brown suede heeled and lace up hiking boots $169. Now you have the total look!
  • We all need a black leather skirt this season so I insist you check out the chic A-Line leather skirt here. It may be a little short for some of us but you might get away with it if you wear black opaques in the winter months. Love a leather skirt with a chic cream sweater or Equipment shirt and some brown wedges. $129.
  • Buy the chic grey mini cable sweater: this is cool with chinos and a fabulous chunky scarf. You could layer it over a cute white Tee or a fabulous white shirt with the collar poking out. $69

I hopped onto the GAP website because they ship to Australia and here are my picks:

  • You got to love the cotton washed flare chinos (or khaki as GAP call them ). The new flare shape is cool and it’s back. You need a few of these pants because they are perfect for trans seasonal weather and work so well with all the short jackets around. $63. They can be your winter basic. Love !
  • Also to wear right now in the mild Autumn weather is the navy shrunken blazer: so right with baggy jeans as shown here. So right with skinny jeans. Something you will live in. $104
  • If you need a few more tops to get through the next month or so until the weather gets chilly then invest in the one shoulder top in a soft grey silky style fabric $63 and the brown silky two pocket shirt. $63. Yes, it seems everything here at GAP is $63.

A few new fabulous things in store have caught my eye:

  • Love the black shaggy Mongolian fur vest. Yes, I love it because I bought it last year and if you know me you saw that I wore it everywhere. Even living in Sydney. A fab buy $399 (Though not very cheap but chic price I must say). What I like about it was the idea that you can wear it at the office sitting at your desk or just going out for dinner. No need to take off your jacket and wonder what to wear underneath. You know how that is.
  • It seems the bling top won’t go away and why should it?  You want the cap sleeve, V neck hand beaded top. Love it with jeans, cargoes or chinos. There is something about glitter with pants: it seems to dress down the total look and is a great contrast to the glitter don’t you think? When you wear a top like this with a skirt it suddenly looks too dressed up for day. Layer it over a white tank and you can run out the door. $269
  • You want the brown stretch nylon trench. You do. It’s double breasted as you can see, in a fabulous medium weight stretch fabric with shoulder epaulettes and self tie belt. Yes, please. $249. Perfect. Do I have to explain why you want a trench coat? Of course not! Just watch the hilarious video from Tyra and Andre Leon Talley on ( it’s everything I have been going on about for years).
  • I see a pair of low heel pointy toe kitten heels in patent. Please don’t be scared. $149. I wish they were not in patent. It’s so 90’s. But they are fabulous. Also check out the Gretchen camel box clutch shoulder bag $169. It’s So Celine. This is a very good thing. Love a camel bag to lighten everything up.

Business Class

Yes, there is soon to be a Country Road card member sale. My picks are:

  • The black short peacoat. It’s a chic jacket and it’s not too over the top. This is a classic. You will wear for a few more seasons and the short shape is a winner, as I have mentioned, with the new high waist jeans and the skirts. This jacket is so versatile: perfect to wear to work or back with your ripped jeans and hiking boots for the weekend. If I didn’t already have about 3 jackets like this…. $299
  • The silk two pocket shirt is one of the key pieces of the season. But you knew that because I have been banging on about for a year. Now you can buy it in black or khaki. So chic $149
  • Buy the green khaki military jacket : As I have mentioned previously I like this jacket because it’s right on trend and you can wear it and thrash for the season. it will groove up all your black, it will work with jeans, it will work with grownup pants. It’s funny to think that Marc Jacobs first did a jacket like this about 10 years ago…now where did I put it…..? $199
  • In accessories you can’t go past the zip over sized clutch. Again I have been chatting about the over sized clutch for about a year or so on The FiFi Report and now at the recent shows in Paris, New York and Paris it’s been a huge trend on and off the runways. This is cute Givenchy / Alexander Wang style here. Don’t be afraid o f zips and punk. That was another trend that was everywhere too. Meaning? You can get your money’s worth $149.

On sale! Always worth checking out the jewellery.
My picks are:

  • The silver short chunky necklace called “The Hustler” and it is! You can toss this on with the grey sportsgirl cable sweater or a Bonds grey marle Tee and leather skirt and off you go. Any age can wear this. Just ditch any earrings or cuffs. It’s a huge NONONO. Never over do it. It’s what I call tacky. Look at Vicky B. She had no taste and used to pile it on. Now she has pared it right back and looks elegant. You want the focus on one piece. On sale $199.
  • So if you don’t do a necklace the pile it on the wrists: the more the merrier. Layer it up big time. Start with the ” diamante/black diamond crystals and gloss jet enamel dots in gunmetal plated metal settings strung on a stretch wrist base.” You need a few of this with your Hermes cuff. On sale $111
  • My other pick on sale is the grey Venus peep toe wedge. So cool. Not sure how easy to walk in but hey if you are sitting at your desk or in a limo it should be fine. A grey bootie will add a little fun on your feet and that’s what we all need don’t we? Love with skinny cargoes or a leather skirt.

Fresh Apricot jam

With all the summer fruits available I thought I would whip up some apricot Jam. Don’t be put off : making Jam is so easy even George Clooney could do it.
