“I’m sure I probably bought weed from him.” Cameron Diaz

” I hired Brad, this little angel, and then Taylor just went in for the kill. And I, like, did not see that coming. I always knew what she was capable of, but who knew that was going to happen with the camera?” Rachel Zoe on her ex-assistant Taylor….In for the kill on a primal, animalistic level?

“If I can’t lounge in it, sleep in it, or make love in it, I am not interested.”  Donna Karan’s philosophy

“He’s got more talent in those bangs than I’ve got in my whole body.” Megan Fox on Justin Bieber fever

Anna dello Russo Tee for Yoox

We love and adore (a front row fashion show fixture and fashion director-at-large for Vogue Japan) and so we were thrilled when we saw she had collaborated with e-tailer to launch a set of 10 fabulous T shirts.
“It all started with this t-shirt that a fan of mine [Lorenzo Oddo] made for me,” Dello Russo explains . “He wore it one night at the club Plastic and I saw a photo of him on the internet so I called him. When we talked, he told me that he was afraid I was going to report him. Instead, I asked him why he chose to put me on his t-shirt instead of Lady Gaga or Madonna. He said that it was because thanks to the internet, everyone can wear the fashion they like. For me, this was a very important message,” she says. “I proposed the idea of making these ten t-shirts thanks to Lorenzo, who is also a designer. Ten different t-shirts, each representing one of the ten years of Yoox, chosen as if they were cards. Like 10 faces of our personality.”

hats

What: A hat for winter.
Which: You want a hat this season and you want a hat that is a little floppy, with a wider brim, a little 70’s and a little retro. It should probably be in black or brown or navy unless you feel you can carry off red. You might like animal print or faux fur.
Why: Because we are a little tired of those pork pie, trilby style hats. Because a small hat doesn’t keep you warm. Because this floppy style hat works so well with the 70’s vibe happening in fashion. Because it looks cool. Which is always the best reason.
Wear: with everything from sharp shouldered jackets to trench coats and biker jackets. Please don’t; wear a hat with earrings and necklaces and sunglasses. You will look like Patsy from Ab Fab. Check out all these shots of the fashion flock wearing hats here at

Conditioning Brush Cleaner from Mecca Cosmetica

Reasons you need a makeup brush cleaner:

  • Because horrible bugs probably love your Bobbi Brown eyeliner as much as you.
  • Because you don’t want grey eye shadow as blush on your cheeks.
  • Because your brushes are the louboutins of makeup application.
  • Because you don’t need to rinse the brushes: you simply just spray and wipe, then let dry.
  • Because you shouldn’t use ‘Spray n wipe’ on your makeup brushes.
  • Because they say it “contains silk protein, pro-vitamin B5, a clean scent to leave brushes smelling fresh and alcohol”
  • This does not mean you can drink it.

Not Untrue and Not Unkind: A Novel by Ed O’Loughlin

“In Dublin, a newspaper editor called Cartwright is found dead. One of his colleagues, Owen Simmons, discovers a dossier on Cartwright’s desk containing a photograph that brings him back to a dusty road in Africa and to a woman he once loved. Not Untrue & Not Unkind is Owen’s story-a gripping tale of friendship, rivalry, and betrayal among a group of journalists and photographers covering Africa’s wars. It is an astonishingly powerful and accomplished debut that immediately establishes Ed O’Loughlin as a mature master of the novel, and was longlisted for the Booker Prize.

“It’s a dark and expertly told soap opera… it’s an astonishingly powerful and accomplished debut novel written with great authority… This atmospheric book authentically carries the sounds and flavors of a Graham Greene novel, reading at times like a memoir with the seamless underbelly of a gritty Hemingwayesque tale… Buy, steal, or borrow this book. Whatever you do, read it.” — Sam Millar, New York Journal of Books

“One of the most powerful debut Irish novels of the last decade.” -Sunday Business Post

“Passionate, colorful … love story and tragedy, mystery and professional satire (à la Evelyn Waugh’s Scoop) all rolled into one.” -Irish Times “[O'Loughlin] makes readers see the storytellers as they describe the unimaginable.” — ForeWord Magazine

American Modern [Hardcover] by Thomas O’Brien,  Lisa Light , and Laura Resen (Photographer)
I love, love, love Thomas O’Brien’s work:  you would have seen his divine, and very little apartment, in many interiors magazines such as Elle Deco.
‘Designer and merchant, collector and tastemaker, Thomas O’Brien has made a career of translating cool notions of modernism into an easy and generous array of modern styles that anyone can attain. Now he introduces readers to a range of those styles-from casual to formal, vintage to urban-alongside stunning photography and charming design stories.
O’Brien carefully describes the design process of his chosen projects, including a downtown New York City loft, a traditional Connecticut estate, and a converted schoolhouse in eastern Long Island. Each home explores a view on the modern design spectrum he has created, as well as the individual choices that make the design unique and its mix essentially American.
American Modern is an inspiring design volume that will redefine the way readers think about modern interiors.’

Pear and blueberry crumbles .….

Perhaps you are having a dinner party, a Sunday lunch or you just want to eat something warm and delicious when you are home alone with Breakfast at Tiffanys. Make these individual little crumbles and you have everyone smiling on a cold winter’s day.
You can make it a little ahead of time then throw in the oven just before serving..

You need for 6 girls, 4 men, 30 models:
5  Josephine pears, peeled, quartered, sliced
2 teasp fresh lemon juice
1/4 teasp mixed spice
1 teasp grated orange rind
1 tabs brown sugar
300g packet of frozen blueberries
Low fat vanilla yoghurt or full fat King Island cream to drool over.

Crumble mixture:
100g unsalted butter, melted
1/3 cup (70g) brown sugar
1 cup (90g) rolled oats
1 cup (70g) fresh breadcrumbs

  • Preheat oven to 180°C.
  • Pour a wine or ten.
  • Peel, quarter and slice the pears. Or Ask George Clooney to do it because it’s so boring.
  • Zest the orange rind
  • Squeeze the lemon juice.
  • Find a saucepan and toss in the pears, and then stir in the lemon juice, spice, orange rind and sugar. A bit of vanilla essence would be nice to dollop in to.
  • Cover it and let it cook over a medium heat for about 5 minutes or until pears have collapsed. Think Lindsay Lohan on a bad day.
  • Now toss in the blueberries. They can be frozen. Think Nicole Kidman.
  • Now while that is bubbling away you can make the crumble;
  • So melt the butter ( if only you could do that so easily to your thighs).
  • Then in a bowl you can pour in the butter, then toss in sugar, oats and breadcrumbs. You can add muesli if you don’t have breadcrumbs.
  • When the pear mix is cooked you can spoon it into 6 cups of ovenproof dishes (strain off a little liquid if necessary).
  • Sprinkle crumble mixture very chicly on top.
  • Place the bowls on a baking tray.
  • Bake until as golden as Chloe wedges.
  • Serve with healthy yoghurt or naughty cream.
  • Divine!
