"It’s unpleasant enough for people to attend fashion shows, what with the flashing lights, blaring music and other noise, even worse for a cat, who has no idea where she is or why she’s there and who would surely rather be at home in a sunny window. I thought Paris Hilton wore out this trend of using pets as accessories a couple of years ago. It’s hideous. Besides, there’s enough cattiness during fashion week without throwing a real cat into the mix" People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals on Nicolae and Elisabeta Petrescu, who, clutching onto their cat, Leo, have worked their way through the preshow frenzy at Michael Kors and Marc Jacobs after party.
"I think it’s brave of me to come to these fashion shows, I believe in balance in life, and I spend most of my time working for my charities. So to come here and see this, and then go to Sierra Leone or East Timor, we can tell the children, ‘There is a way out. There is hope. We can provide a little bit of light. This is a little bit of magic. “Fergie at Fashion Week. (Be brave little starving children: all will be fine if you get in the front row at Marc Jacobs)
"I feel great but I’m not depressed about it. I just had this bizarre, sexual, almost fetishistic obsession with classicism and boredom. I was watching Bertolucci films." Marc Jacobs after his show. Obsessed with boredom. How fashion
"No, we’re never getting married, but we’re never getting divorced, which is fantastic. I bought her a Chloe purse," Isn’t that good enough?” Jim Carrey knows a way to a woman’s heart .
"Paris’ s— got stolen, and somehow she had a picture of me naked in there,. That’s Paris Hilton to you." Cisco Adler blames Paris on his nude photos.
"I want to tell you everything, but I have to sew my lips together." Jessica Simpson on her love life. ( we wish you would).
: "I don’t use Botox or Restylane and I’ve never had any surgery, no matter what you’ve read." Teri Hatcher should get her lips sewn together.
• "There’s a nub where the genitals should be. He has no mouth. I actually posed for this several years ago – I was the buttocks model for the SAG (Awards) Actor. It’s like looking in a mirror." The Office’s Rainn Wilson, joking about his uncanny resemblance to his SAG Awards trophy.
"Honey, don’t talk with your mouth full." Oprah Winfrey, responding to David Letterman’s declaration that the pair were "in love," in a Super Bowl commercial for the Late Show . Sew up your mouth.

Alissia Plastic Diamond Ring

Fashion is all about illusion. Ilusion you have no cellulite under the black opaques. Illusion you can walk in those Chloe wedges without frowning. Illusion there are no frowns from the Chloe wedges hidden by the botox. Illusion your arms are taut and terrific from the gym rather than from lugging that oversized Birkin everywhere. Illusion that are you are very used to being continually hungry. Illusion that you have a fabulous diamond ring when in fact you are wearing a plastic ring. The groovy little alissia rings are plastic cut outs and a silhouette of the traditional Tiffany ring. Choose black, silver or clear and wear a different colour every day. Or just wear 3 together. What a perfectly cheap but chic Valentines Day gift.

$20 Alissia Plastic Diamond Ring from .

Valentines Day

Orange and blue are not fashion colours this season. But next week I predict you will love those colours. On February 14th you will be so happy to be surrounded by a little blue box from Tiffany’s and big orange boxes from Hermes. In the blue box you will be crying with joy when you discover the divine silver cuff designed by Frank Gehry. In the orange box you will be sobbing when you peer in to find a gorgeous new red and gold enamel bracelet with a signature H. Cuffs are the only jewelery to be worn this winter. And if you don’t see any blue or orange boxes then pray you will at least be given something brown. Chocolate brown.

Short hair is hot again

It had to happen. Long hair is suddenly looking just too fake and too tacky. (Britney! Paris! Lindsay!) Yes, girls it’s time to throw away your hair extensions and get the chop. Short hair is hot again. It’s all part of the eighties revival in fashion. Think Annie Lennox and Madonna. The hot model du jour is Agyness Deyn, a young English girl who has seriously short cropped hair channeling Edie Sedgwick with a punk makeover. She is the very image of Eighties model Jenny Howarth. Check her out in the Mulberry and Giorgio Armani campaigns, in an upcoming John Galliano ad. and the cover of November 2006 Italian Vogue shot by Steven Meisel. If the fashion bible has short hair on the cover you know it’s cool. You have been warned. Log onto to see Agyness Deyn then start snipping!

It’s fashion week in New York for winter 2007/8 and here is the news …
So what does the real house of Yves Saint Laurent think about the references in Marc Jacobs’ fall collection to the legendary retired couturier? Pierre Bergé, Saint Laurent’s partner, confessed he hadn’t seen Jacobs’ show. But he quickly pulled it up on Style.com to peruse the runway looks. "It’s true that it’s inspired by Saint Laurent," Bergé mused. "But it lacks the great precision of Saint Laurent." Pausing, he added: "Still, it’s better to be inspired by Saint Laurent than by John Galliano!” wwd
Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough are fashion’s early adopters. The Alaïa references that have been spotted on the runways this week? So last season. They’ve moved away from their Spring outing’s essentially spare sensibility and rediscovered the interest in surface decoration that informed some of their best collections.wwd
Jennifer Hudson is clearly the woman of the hour. After securing an Oscar nomination, a Golden Globe and a Screen Actors Guild award for best supporting actress for her role in "Dreamgirls," the "American Idol" runner-up has landed the March Power cover of Vogue. Hudson was photographed by Annie Leibovitz at the Apollo Theater as part of a seven-page photo essay inside,Wwd
US Elle has a new creative director, Joe Zee. A few eyebrows were raised at the absence of Elle fashion director Nina Garcia at Fashion Week( also on Project Runway) whose turf is said to be in question under Zee’s creative reign. A spokeswoman for the magazine said Garcia "had a bad cold" wwd
Jade Jagger is collaborating again with Philippe Starck’s and John Hitchcox’s Yoo Ltd. Their show house for a Gloucestershire property geared for second-home owners is expected to open in the spring. Unlike the Jade Jagger for Yoo condos in New York, the U.K. spread is designed to protect the wildlife.
The October issue of Vanity fair featuring the first published photos of Tom Cruise,Katie Holmes and baby Suri sold 713,776 newsstand copies, and was the bestseller of 2006 for the magazine.
Stella McCartney has designed a 42-piece fashion line for Australian Target . The collection, which goes on sale from March 12, includes jeans, tailored trousers and jackets, chunky knits, swing coats, camisoles and dresses.
Mount Street, London until now a Mayfair backwater, is getting a fashion jolt. Marc Jacobs will open his first British store there during London Fashion Week. The 2,100-square-foot space will carry the entire Marc Jacobs signature women’s and men’s collections and accessories. Also in Mount street is Scott’s, the hot place to eat in London, and owned by the team behind celebrity-filled restaurants The Ivy.WWd
While in London head to the "Face of Fashion," a photographic exhibition that opens Feb. 15 at London’s National Portrait Gallery. Portraits by Mert & Marcus, Corinne Day, Steven Klein, Paolo Roversi and Mario Sorrenti will explore the way the celebrated photographers’ works play with the ideas of fashion and celebrity.
London is also the latest stop for celebrated chef Joël Robuchon’s L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon, after the success of his concept in New York, Paris, Las Vegas and Tokyo. And while it may have just scooped a Michelin star Robuchon has tossed aside pomp in favor of counter seats set around the busy kitchen.
Hedi Slimane is expanding his artistic range, and has directed his first television commercial. It’s for the new Dior men’s fragrance, Fahrenheit 32, and stars the French model-actor Arnaud Valois..

"I don’t know why Denise Richards is suddenly famous again, but she has been photographed allegedly snorting some cocaine and playing it off like she just put on lip balm. She really sticks to her lip balm story so it’s tough to tell what exactly is going on. Although there’s some potential white residue seen in her nose which makes me lean towards the cocaine theory. Plus if you check the closeup most people don’t apply lip balm to their noses." thesuperficial
Lindsay Lohan has reportedly been sending Brody Jenner text messages the last couple weeks while in rehab, and last Saturday she allegedly texted him that all she wanted was "McDonald’s and sex." No taste what so ever.

Him Her Him Again The End of Him

Him Her Him Again The End of Him (Hardcover) by Patricia Marx
‘There are college boyfriends. There are caddishly bad college boyfriends. And there are caddishly bad college boyfriends you somehow can’t quit. And now there’s Eugene. Eugene is a budding philosopher, fresh out of Princeton and AmeriCorps with a copy of the Magna Carta in his pocket. What pseudo-intellectual young woman can resist a lanky grad student who says, “Your kisses are so recondite, my peach, that they are almost notional”? A man who calls her “my juju,” “my singular dodo bird” and “my tender duckling”? Marx — former Saturday Night Live writer, current New Yorker contributor, author of humor books – is on top of her game with this hilarious book’.

How lovely to hit the shops and find lots of great winter buys. Who cares if it’s too hot outside to wear them it feels great to get into a new season. Remember this season is all about black, grey with hints of metallic silver and red. Go for the more voluminous shapes, sporty or futuristic modern looks and serious tailoring in suits. You want skinny pants, a trench or two, dresses and more dresses, platform heels and pretty blouses. And if the Marc Jacobs show this week of next, next winter 08 was anything to go by it’s all about a very modern clean 70’s YSL look. Thank the lord.
Economy

Check out the beautiful brown high waisted extra fine slinky wool trousers $199. The Marni eque 50’s style bow front cotton blouses are cute but very hard to wear - Not really very sexy so anyone over 35 will look like Miss Potter. Not a good thing unless worn with a mini or shorts $99. Love the cute square neck baby doll dress in navy $199; the navy linen/taffeta blouse with ruffles $225 and the chiffon check ruffle blouse with a chic double cuff is gorgeous and so is the square neck grey sack dress $169. The skinny leg pants are great $99.
David Jones;
Check out the cute Sachi black or red patent clutch bags $69; the cute RMK stud roman flat sandals $79 still time left to wear them while it’s hot. If we don’t ever sign the Kyoto protocol we will be wearing sandals all year round. The Sachi animal print heels with a red sole and peep toe are very Christian Louboutin, bless, and rather chic $179. Urban Soul hare very Miu Miu inspired navy and black round toe suede shoes with a big chunky heel and completely simple. Go for navy $149; and buy the Tony Bianco platforms with a patent heel and a patent platform also in a red for a jaunty look. $107. Why $107 not $105 or 108? How precise! Check out the Miilana black patent round toe flats with a big brass buckle, very Ferragamo $219. The Milana flats in a patent with a bow are Ok but they do have a weird little heel ( could be a bit old lady ). The flat burgundy patent with a peep toe are cool $209.
Witchery:
Check out the fab accessories. Very inspired by Marc Jacobs are the black patent flats with serious toe cleavage (no toe bra needed!) $149; and the silver round toe flats with a bow $129. check out the belts with a brass buckle , very wide $60 and some cute animal print flats: Warning animal print is only to be worn this winter in accessories unless you are lucky enough to have the Prada coat. Then you can carry it off otherwise it can all be just too tacky. And we can’t have FiFi subscribers looking tacky. It’s just not right. The Balenciaga esque tote in black is not bad for $149; and so is the Chloe style Tracy bag in the grey but it’s a bit small. And we all know accessories are all big this season. Check out the classic leather ballet flats $129 and the grosgrain ballets flats $149.

Mollini;
Love the faux snakeskin dark green peep toe heels with a platform also in black. They also come as a classic pump without the peeptoe and with a round toe $138. Buy the black patent T bar heels with ankle strap and a wooden stacked heel $128; the patent pointy sling backs in a choc brown. Yes, they are pointy but they look very Prada so you can just get away with it. Try the fabulous very Chloe (it’s amazing) round toe wedges with a wooden heel in white or black patent , and they have an ankle strap. You could cut that off if you wanted to $158. There are a lot of crop short booties if you like them but they are tricky to wear - the cut off at the ankle look can make legs look shorter. God knows we need that. But they are groovy and look so cool with sweater dresses and shorter mini. Hint : The higher the shoe the shorter the skirt. The satin bow ballet flats with stone jewels a la Prada or Chloe are great $138.
Cotton On

Also check out the animal print bag. buy the Miu Miu style peep toe cone heels in a blue patent and a black $99, and the cute patent flat Mary Janes are very marc Jacobs $99. Check out the black glitter peep toes heels in black $89. Talk about cheap but chic. I see far too many point toes. Yes, I know they are so last season that they are almost back in again and yes, Lanvin did do them for last summer but they are not right. Ok. Especially if the shoes are cheap. It makes them double cheap. Prada or Lanvin pointy is Ok…
Supre:
I see cute little very Karl Lagerfeld face printed 60’s style T shirts $39. Groovy. There are cute dark denim princess pinafore dresses for you born after 1990 at $50 with white stitching. I see far too many 80’s ugly bight colours here. No lip gloss reapplication here either with that scary lighting.
Novo:
Check out more glitter Prada esque heels for about $89.and I like the bronze ones too. Barganza. Also there are quite good ballet flats here about $39. The roman sandals are here with studs and all sorts of straps on sale at ridiculous prices. Which is what you want to pay at the end of the season.
Dangerfield
Head here for the best Punk slogan T shirts: I want the red T with the face of Janet Leigh screaming in the movie Pyscho or the T that says “I heart KY “ ( instead of NY if you are a bit slow) or go for the T with Johhny Depp as Edward Scissorhands. Buy the one that says “ turn down your f**king collar “ or the T shirt that says “Deport Pedro”. Bless …I love Pedro.

Hint; when wearing al these voluminous shapes make sure you balance it al out with a narrow bottom (or your bottom won’t look narrow!). Check out the gathered front poloneck with ¾ sleeves, very similar to the one I spied in MNG $89 and I see the heavy knit ‘Milano’ jacket from last season has reappeared. It’s lovely and is double breasted and fitted but this time with long sleeves- thank the lord. I find all these ¾ sleeves very Mingy and not luxurious enough. Also ¾ sleeves in winter make your arms look like stumpy midgets. But it’s about the sleeve this season and all the details and the double cuff or voluminous bell sleeves just looks quality darling. There is a fab black pencil skirt $139; a perfect grey trousers in delicious fabric, a must buy $139 and I love the grey cuffed shorts, gorgeous $159. Check out the fab Chloe style bags, the divine scarves, the groovy beanies that we first saw on Carolyn Bessette Kennedy way back last century in 1996. Miss Potter ……directed by Chris Noonan ( Babe)
Genre: historical romantic drama
Who: Renée Zellweger, Emily Watson, Ewan McGregor, Lloyd Owen
The Plot: Set in late Victorian and Edwardian England. Old maid spinster of 32, Bridget Jones still lives at home (But you would if you had servants galore).Sits in her room painting and talking to animals. Peter Rabbit in particular. Mother tries to marry her off to ugly losers. Mother is mean to her. Father is sweet. She gets her books printed. Becomes a writing celebrity. Goes to rehab and flashes her Brazilian to all from a limo. Oh, sorry that was Britney. She finds love with the publisher played by Ewan McGregor. He is gorgeous. Wakes you up from the snooze you were having watching Renee. Her parents disapprove of her marrying him. Something bad happens.. She keeps talking to animals, her parents keep being horrid, she moves out. Keeps writing. Becomes very rich. Buys up lots of property. Meets a man. The end.
Acting: The movie is redeemed by excellent performances. Emily Watson is fantastic and is even fat with a double Chin. How very English. How not very Hollywood. “ McGregor, in particular, lights up the film, and in her scenes with him, when she is not forced to interact with watercolor rabbits, Zellweger seems to wake up from a long, cranky nap.”Los Angeles Times.
Design: lots of very chintzy Victorian homes and pretty English country house interiors. The sketches of Peter Rabbit coming alive and skipping off the page are just adorable.
Photography: divine shots of the English country side and the lakes district.
Wardrobe: Very Rochas, Chloe and Lanvin winter 2006. Puff sleeves, pretty cream blouses, bustles and cinched in waists.
Salon de Beaute: Renee looks so bad it’s intriguing. What’s with the makeup line that finishes at the jaw? I couldn’t take my eyes off her white neck compared to her ruddy face and terrible complexion. The eyebrows are thick, the face is puffy and her hair; My lord. Bad dye job and the thin and skanky. Yes, skanky is the word. Put it this way; she looked glamourous in Cold Mountain compared to this.
Botox:” Zellweger’s face has utterly frozen into a human version of a scrunchie, and appears as if it will shatter into 1,000 pieces if an honest smile were to break out.” Slant Magazine
Waterproof Mascara: Best to apply a lot. There are a few sad scenes. And if you don’t cry at those you will cry looking at Renee’s hair and makeup.
Bloodnguts: No, aren’t we happy about that?
Mind drifted to shopping: During the child hood flash backs.
Smokin’ smooches: Nothing. It’s PG.
Car chases. Nil
Rename It: “ Is a lot Like Love and Cold Mountain ” (starred Renee and Ewan as well)
Best Review: "Despite Noonan’s balancing social friction and fantasy, Miss Potter entrances and delights throughout. It’s a beautifully made fairy tale with roots in reality, and all the more satisfying as a result.” Detroit News
Best Worst Review: "The photography is as pretty as a Potter watercolor. The style is as stiff as one of her own tiny hardbound books. Half an hour in, and you start looking about in vain for Farmer MacGregor’s shotgun.” Newark Star-Ledger
Or "Watching this horrifically twee film is like having your face pushed into a bowl of pot-pourri for 90 minutes in a two-star B&B somewhere in Cumbria.” Observer [UK]
See it or donate to the Prada Bag fund? A very sweet enjoyable movie, it’s all very light, airy and romantic. Take the kiddies and tissues and then head to Prada afterwards for more intellectual stimulation.
