White and Black Storage Boxes

In winter we all decided to get the Home office organized and we all loved those white storage boxes from Ikea didn’t we? But then we got home and we had to put them together and not break a nail. Mmm. Now it’s summer we’ve got better things to do than work out how to screw B into A and C (except if it’s our bank accounts) but we still need those boxes. Relax! Howard’s Storage World have cottoned onto the idea and have fabulous chic white and black boxes already stuck together and (even better) with a lift up lid! Now you’re talking! Sm $3.95 med $6.95 Lge $10.

Visla wine and champagne glasses

Tis the season to be jolly and you’ll be much jollier if you are drinking out of a chic glass! Get in early for your Christmas soiree and nick into Freedom to stock up on the groovex to the max (and cheapex) clever copy of the Visla wine and champagne glasses. You know they’re the ones with the modern straight sides as opposed to curvy or round (where’s my camera?) I love them and at $5.95 each they are the item du party! And if you insist on the real thing and quality darling then you shall have it! Orson & Blake have the fabulous iittala essence wine $28 and champagne glasses $36 that are THE dernier cri in chic!

Alpha Keri Body Lotion

Here’s the inside scoop on the best body moisturiser which all the hair and makeup artists (I have ever worked with) love love love! Invest in the cheap but chic Alpha Keri body lotion $10? It sinks in, makes you glow, shows off the tan (you haven’t got yet) feels sooo soft, gooey, luscious and moist honey moist!! Sure in summer you may like to slather on that coconut butter but you’ll smell like one too (or breakfast) Alpha Keri doesn’t have a strong perfume. Perfect! From Chemists.

Homemade ice cream (with coconut and lime)

Forget about ice cream makers! You don’t need them with this not so slimming but wow so easy fanteasy delicious ice cream…perfect as the do-ahead-of-time dessert over summer

Homemade ice cream (with coconut and lime)
2 x 375 cans of carnation evaporated milk
6 egg yolks
2/3-cup caster sugar
2 teaps vanilla essence
¾ cup of dried coconut
zest of 3 limes
3 tblesp limejuice

* Toast the dried coconut in oven for about 5 mins till golden
* Zest and squeeze the limes
* Pour the carnation milk into a saucepan over a low heat (Yes time to slave over a hot stove for a cold dessert but you can and you will…)
* Add the coconut and limejuice to the milk and stir…and honey keep stirring. (C’mon it’s not that hard and think of the crowd control when they start to taste this!)
* Beat up those egg yolks, sugar and vanilla until light and creamy (stop it I like it!) with a spoon or beaters
* Add egg mixture to milk and stir for 8 to 10 mins or until the mixture has thickened a bit and sticks to back of spoon.
Voila! Done! Easy!
* Pour into a metal cake tin (a long log one is the go) and freeze for at least 4 hours, but it’s better if it left overnight (it needs its beauty sleep like you!).

To serve you need to have it looking chic de la chic on a platter. To get the ice cream out just run the tin under a bit of hot water (bottom side up for god’s sake! to melt it around the edges and it should pop out easily)

Zest a bit of lime on top and then art direct some lime leaves on top! Superb!

Mystic River
Murder, child abuse, violence, abduction, mmm sounds just like a romantic comedy to me! Help how did I get into this movie? Well I missed half of it anyway with my hands over my eyes. The first 15 minutes are harrowing. Yes I said harrowing. So if you like CSI, FYPD and crime movies with a “who dunnit” then this is your movie. OK it IS great movie making (thank you Clint Eastwood) but the content was not exactly uplifting! Well shot with hard lighting, it feels very sinister but the acting is great: Tim Robbins is amazing and so is Kevin Bacon. But did Sean Penn deserve the Pampered Suffering Artiste award from the New York Times? No he didn’t over act (then again I didn’t see much) Why is it called Mystic River? We bury our sins we wash them clean…Bring back the red Hermes bag from Le Divorce…all is forgiven!
