“I’ve made bad choices and I used to say that if there was a loser in town, I’d find him. But not any more. When I put on that Catwoman suit I’m in touch with my power as a woman.” Halle Berry
“Catwoman, achieves something I would not have thought possible. It made me think back fondly on Garfield.” NYTimes ( Bad choice again Halle)
“Risible yarn about a mousy underachiever rendered superhuman by arcane pussy power plays like a Lifetime movie on estrogen overdose, barely held together by a script that should have been tossed out with the kitty litter” Variety
“I did decline but, hey, the way my love life is I took it as a great compliment. I keep thinking of those photographs of Michael in a shocking wig at Disneyland looking ridiculous “ Nicole Kidman on Micheal Jackson asking her to MTV awards ( yes but have you seen Lenny with his straight hair?)
“I have to stop drinking. That’s funny. I think I can do it.” Courtney Love (me too !)

“Gay Channel Coming Out with Cher, Cumming Projects” headline from Reuters Hollywood Reporter (all Reuters)
“But suddenly the guards parted, and a pretty blonde was all over a fully erect Affleck, who rose to standing position quickly.” Fox 11 on Ben Affleck meeting John Kerry’s daughter: (”He’s Got A Boner For Politics” Gawker)
“She was hysterical … hysterical. She was fainting. She could not get any air. She showed all the signs of having a nervous breakdown,” Catherine Zeta Jones on seeing a stalker (Jennifer Aniston on the set of Oceans 12?)
“Designer/model/bling enthusiast Kimora Lee Simmons, who was arrested for pretty much everything you can do wrong in a car — has her mugshot in The Smoking Gun. Best of all? What’s that around her wrist? A retarded piece of red Kabbalah anti-evil-eye string? Yeah, that went well. Please. You know all the Kabbalists will be ripping these red strings off with their teeth the second the Nazis come back in power.” outrageous in Gawker

Giordano Orange Car Coat

The piece of the season is a definitely a trench coat and being a super style sleuth and the international woman of shoppery, I can tell you there are millions around. Of course, if you did as you were told, you would have bought a belted trench months and months ago. So now it’s time to buy a new, colourful version which is why you should slink into Giordano for their very, cute, short car coat in a fabulous orange. It has chic, tortoiseshell buttons, is great length and in a good stiff cotton, all for $130. Perfect for throwing over all that boring black and jeans in your wardrobe.

Giordano Orange Car Coat $130

Phillippe Ferrandis rings

I know I go on about all the bling around but T’is the season to be shiny, T’is the season to be glittery and T’is the season to be decked out in all sorts of jewels. But if you can’t do the whole sequin thing in the dress separtment, make it happen with accessories. Last week you bought the Prada robots and brooch so this week you need rings: Big, glamorous rings with great, big colorful stones. XSRE in Castlereagh St have some fabulous ones that look very similar to Cartier for a lot less by the designer Phillipe Ferrandis. $350 Phillippe Ferrandis rings XSRE 9230 0555

Aveda Air Control Hair Spray

I have to confess, I have just paid money for air. Well, I have been buying water, so I may as well buy air. But I had to have it. It will make me look fabulous and do great things with my hair. It will, no really it will. It’s called air control. No, not some environmental green House legislation, this is hair spray filled with lots of good organic Aveda things like Flaxseed and nutmug to “create firm, yet workable hair!” It seems to buff it up and give it lots of air to make it bouncy and flouncy. Yes it works. And it says on the can “Do not spray in eyes. No smoking”. (Bad for the air.)

Aveda Air Control Hair Spray $34.

“A group of female European industrial designers are making a career of a craft that has traditionally been dominated by men — artful products for domestic use. Some of the designers to look out for : Milan-based architect and designer Patricia Urquiola, is one of the most widely produced female industrial designers and worked with Moroso, Bosa, De Vecchi, De Padova and Kartell. Hella Jongerius, of the Netherlands was named Designer of the Year at Paris’ Salon du Meuble in recognition of her whimsical yet pragmatic pieces. Inga Sempé, was awarded first prize for industrial design by the city of Paris in 2002 and has contracts with Cappellini, EDRA and Baccarat. And Florence Doléac, broke with French design team “Radi designers” last year in order to design under her own name. WWD
“The city of Reggio Emilia is about to experience a Renaissance-like artistic renovation, thanks partly to Max Mara. The Maramotti family, of Max Mara and big collectors of contemporary art is working with artist Claudio Parmiggiani to orchestrate a series of permanent works by top artists. Sol LeWitt is painting the ceiling of the city’s public library, evoking the Sistine Chapel, and Robert Morris is creating a bronze statue to be set in the cloisters of the church of San Domenico. Other projects are in the works with Luciano Fabro, Richard Serra and Eliseo Mattiacc” WWD
The Marc by Marc Jacobs shop window in NYC has T-shirts with “Marc Jackass” on them. Now you can buy fashion voting paraphernalia, panties that read “Remove Bush.” ( Haha)

This website was set up by Martha when she was first under investigation (and before she wore her Birken Bag to court) to deal with the 175,000 letters and emails of support. Read Martha’s open letter, send her one, even get trial up dates! Fantastic! But for much more fun go to the longest address in the world:
http://www.worth1000.com/cache/contest/contestcache.asp?contest_id=1214&display=photoshop. To see great ideas for decorating Martha’s cell. Hilarious. The Austin Powers version with the mirror ball is cool.

This is a new online store based in Melbourne where you can buy labels like Zimmerman, Nicola Finetti, English Labels Preen and House of Jazz, and Toni Maticevski. Worth checking out but the design of the site is a bit daggy.

It’s Not About the Bike: by Lance Armstrong, Sally Jenkins;

Even if you are not in the least bit interested in any sport apart from shopping, this is a fantastic book by Lance Armstrong, on his life as a freak cyclist and how he was struck down with cancer, before winning the Tour de France. Of course, now that he has won it for the sixth time, it is worth reading just to see how he life has changed. (He has separated from his wife and is dating Sheryl Crowe.) You can’t say it is a fantastically written book but it is such an inspiring story about “ life, death, love, illness, family, setbacks, and triumphs,” and let’s face it, he really is a mutation of the species whether he takes drugs or not. And when you finish that, start reading his next one “Every Second Counts:”

The Christmas List:
Scandinavian Style
by Bradley Quinn, Alexander Crispin
Ok, Lance Armstrong is a champion cyclist but some of us are champion shoppers. And he here is a lovely book that will inspire you to go onwards, forwards and get out for an early morning shop and credit card training session. “Scandinavian Style is an international sourcebook of the design and interior traditions of Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland. There are chapters on architecture, furniture and 20th century movements from Functionalism to Danish Modernism ” A gorgeous book

Chicken Pot with Olives

Chicken Pot with Olives

This came from the cheats cook book! It is amazingly delicious, so quick and so easy as you can do it blind folded or (hic!) just blind. Everyone will think it took hours to cook and will beg for the recipe. Lie and never reveal the secret…

You need for 6:
Preheat oven to 180
1 chicken or 8 chicken pieces
2 red onions sliced like Paris Hilton, very thin
6 garlics ditto
½ teasp saffron
½ cup black juicy olives; can chop if you are feeling angry.
¼ cup capers
2 tabs olive oil ( good designer one)
¼ cup Balsamic vinegar
2 tabs of fresh rosemary ; chopped very slackly
I glass wine to guzzle on as you chop
2 tabs brown sugar for a caramel taste
1 1/2 cups of chicken stock. Yes, show off and use the one that you have cooked up yourself or just throw in one from Campbells.
Lots of designer salt and pepper.

Now here’s the tricky bit
Throw it all in the oven and cook it for 45 mins to I hour
Done!
Now you can spend more time on the wardrobe: the Gucci or the YSL?
Ok need more instructions?
Throw the chicken and the rest of the ingredients into a baking tray. Scatter with more rosemary and throw into the oven uncovered for about 45 mins to an hour…
Might take longer just check that when the chicken is cooked through it has no pink peeking through (You know how we all hate pink this season)
Serve with pototes if you feel like it.

Now is that the most outrageously easy thing you have ever cooked and the most impressive? You bet.
Here’s a tip: make more than you think ( double the recipe) because the crowds will go wild and will be begging for more.
And you can’t let down those adoring fans now can you?

Laws of Attraction
I had been hearing about this movie for long time, a new romantic comedy based on Hepburn and Tracey, so I wasn’t going to be put off by that naughty Margaret Pomerantz saying bad things about it l(ike Julieanne Moore was absolutely terrible.) Outrageous. Anyway we needed something light to watch after Mike Moore Fahrenheit 9/11. Maybe we should have checked out Rotten Tomato’s Tomatometer’ where it gets only 19% of good reviews (Read=rotten). Oh dear. I really wanted to like a movie about two divorce lawyers who are total opposites, who are supposed to hate each other but then fall in love. Such nonsense always makes a great romantic comedy. But I missed one big sign: Pierce Brosman. Should have known after seeing ‘Evelyn’ when he has anything to do with producing and acting, it’s going to be downhill all the way. Downhill ike the slalom in the Olympics. Yes Margaret you are right. This movie makes Pretty Woman look like a fabulous film. In fact Julieanne Moore is so embarrassed to be in this movie, she is cringing as much as we were. And can we talk about the terrible clothes? The stupid story? As one reviewer said” it’s a movie you forget while you are watching it”. Mmm. Which of course is George Bush’s view on life. He forgets what’s happening when he is living it. Yes, Fahrenheit 9/11 is fascinating watching, great movie making, a fantastic propaganda film. And cringe worthy for all the right reasons. God Bless America.

Vanity Fair August: what a great issue! Read how Jessica Simpson (shot by Patrick Demarchelier) ‘ has made a career of sayings idiotic things out loud. Newlyweds presents a slice of life so wholesome and vanilla it could be government propoganda” oh and has an IQ of 160. Read about Valentino and his glamorous life, and laugh at Christopher Hitchens view on Dubya “ Bush has a dysfunction between his eye and ear when it comes to words”
US Elle August: Naomi Watts is on the cover with a story inside on all movies coming out ( king Kong, The Ring 2) there are some cool shots of Lou Doillon, Jane Birken’s daughter (“ daughter of a bag ”) and gorgeous shots of the latest Prada by Manuela Pavesi.
Donna Hay Winter: Drool over the chocolate on the cover, and all the ice skating snow shots inside. Some great ideas on what to do with root vegetables and you want to make all the chocolate recipes like cocnut angel cake.
US Vogue August: has the Presley women on the cover (still waiting for it to arrive)
