“I’m antifashion. I always think clothes make you look fat, so I prefer to be naked “ Pamela Anderson on having no taste (is that antifashion?)
‘What’s your favorite picture of yourself? Question to Pamela in WWD
Answer: “a David LaChapelle photo of me as a lizard with prosthetic nipples and a backpiece with a long tail. I’m wearing a bald cap with a white mohawk and I’m painted in pink spots’ (You look better naked)
“ She has a little something extra, Well, I guess she has two extra things.” Helena Christensen on Pamela Anderson ( pink spots and a mohawk)
“Throughout the years, I’ve done a lot of drugs and alcohol. It’s true that I was a nightmare, impossible. For the last 14 years I’ve been normal. Now my drug is called David” Elton John ( normal?)
“I have a K in a heart, I’ve really found love with Kate. I think it will last. She’s good for me because she’s got a beautiful soul and I think I can trust her. I believe her when she says she loves me and I know I mean it when I say I love her.” Pete Doherty, the lead singer of the group Babyshambles on his romance with Kate Moss ( started about 10 days ago at Kate’s 31st birthday party) His drug is kate (It won’t last) .
‘They are a match made in hell, He’s evil and twisted and the only thing he wants her for is her money. People will hate me, I’ll be blamed for splitting them up. But I have a beautiful soul and trusted him, and he killed me.” His x-girlfriend, Katie Lewis, who says he’s only after her for her cash and she ended their relationship because he was spending all her money on crack cocaine and heroine.( his drug is Kate, it won’t last!)
“ Pete’s not the sort of guy you’d wish for your best friend, Kate’s had a history of partying hard and the two of them together would be a terrible idea. [She] needs a guy who will anchor her like Jefferson did. Pete is very wild.” Sadie Frost on Kate and Pete (Kate listen to Sadie! It won’t last )
“Everything I’ve seen is awful.” YSL on the couture shows
“I think she’s kind of like my alter-ego, Whenever I feel like being mean or fussing to get stuff right it’s kind of easier to be called Mona Lisa instead of Britney.” Britney on being called Mona Lisa on her shoots (Mona as moan?) She feels like being mean? Awful Britney.
“He jumped up and started screaming, He’s normally very calm because he’s on Prozac. I knew something was desperately wrong.” ” dog trainer Jennifer Bauch said of her dog she was walking yesterday in Brooklyn Heights when electricity surged up through sidewalks left at least three city dogs with shocked paws yesterday ( be warned prozac doesn’t work against electric shock therapy even on dogs)
“It was the sort of unrefined entertainment that the earthy European settlers of this island continent would probably have appreciated.” The international Herald Tribune on Hewitt’s win over Nalbandian ( Aussies unrefined? outrageous)

Gucci Sale

It is seriously chic and it is seriously cheap. It’s the Gucci sale! You’ll find outrageous bargains, most of half price or less: tops for $200, shoes $300, bags $600 and all sorts of goodies. Some of the sizes are small but get in there quick smart or you will miss out on some great buys. Plus remember it’s all from Tom Ford’s latest (and past) collections, surely a reason to buy up big, that’s my excuse anyway. Now go to First Class for more detail toute de suite!

Propello fan

I love fans, if only there were more in my life. Nothing like having something that will direct all its energy onto you and make you feel so very cool. But I hate they way they keep you awake at night, all that noise has stopped me sleeping more times than George Clooney has. And that’s a lot. But girls need their beauty sleep so please go straight to TOP3bydesign for the snazzy quietest fan ever not heard. The Propello desktop fan by Black + Blum has ‘soft natural rubber blades, a groovy guard less design and the highest quality motor, which makes it virtually silent’ Bliss. It might be more than you might spend but think how much Crème de la Mer you use after a terrible nights sleep. Nuf said.

Cutex Quick Dry Top Coat

There is nothing that looks as common as chipped nail polish. Yee Gads! Oh you beg to differ? Check out Paris Hilton? Mmm you are right: common as chipped nail polish. But you don’t need to be like that. Not when you use the very good (and cheap as chips) Cutex nail dry topcoat when you are doing your nails at home. It’s my new discovery and it really does dry in 60 seconds, plus it’s been days and I haven’t seen a chip yet (even after scrambling for the black Amex hundreds of times in the bottom of the Birken). If only I had discovered it years ago I could saved a fortune on manicures.

$5.95 Cutex Quick Dry Top Coat from major department stores.

“Be original or die,” was the dictum of Madame Yevonde, the British photographer and portraitist who made her name transforming society women into goddesses and mythical monsters in the Thirties. Just as Christian Lacroix unveiled last week his new design project - a colorful hotel in the Marais district vibrating with joie de vivre - the news broke that the Lacroix fashion company was on the block and LMVH is planning to sell the fashion house after 17 years of waiting for the company to turn a profit. The Hôtel du Petit Moulin is a refuge, with 17 rooms in pure, effervescent Lacroix spirit, from giant carnation or moon and stars panels above the beds, through the artful mixes of houndstooth, bold stripes and toile de Jouy patterns.IHT ( no website,) Hôtel du Petit-Moulin, 29-31 Rue de Poitou, Tel: 331-42-74-10-10.)

Here is a great idea: yahoo! Photo is a service ‘which allows users to store digital albums online and share them with friends and family. You can make albums, enhance shots and rotate, crop and remove red eye ( and wrinkles?). ‘Yahoo! Photos makes sharing photos by email easy and fun, without the hassle of big attachments” Good for travelers to share happy snaps with a lot of people rather than sending individually, plus you can store the shots for up to six months.

Oh! honestly a blog written by and about male models. Laugh did we laugh! We didn’t know they could read (or write for that matter) but nothing shocks me anymore ( except perhaps that Dubya). Please check this out for a laugh but warning! It is very fluffy (as in Elton John probably loves it and half of Sydney too…)

The Sundance Film festival and the Haute Couture in Paris. How do you choose?
The Sundance Film Festival kicked off last Thursday in a whirlwind of film and fashion moments. A few dispatches from the mountain: Despite an engaging performance by Maggie Gyllenhaal, several A-listers dozed off in the front row at the premiere of “Happy Endings,” directed by Don Roos (“The Opposite of Sex”). A few hours before David LaChapelle ended up in a Park City jail cell, he was elated by the response to his documentary, “Rize,” about the South Los Angeles dance movement. “It’s probably one of the best nights of my life,” he said. “I’m on Cloud Nine.” Celebrating with the fashion photographer were Alan Cumming, Pamela Anderson, Jamie Bell and LaChapelle’s Italian greyhound, Lil Boo, who was flown in on Anderson’s private plane. Naomi Watts got off to an early start Saturday morning to screen “Ellie Parker,” a film she produced based on a short she appeared in five years ago at the festival. The humorous tale of a struggling actress was very personal for Watts, who recalled “shoving flyers under people’s noses and handing out gift bags in the street” on her first go-round. “This time, we’re collecting the goodies,” she said. But Saturday’s hottest ticket was “Pretty Persuasion,” an over-the-top teen comedy starring festival princess Evan Rachel Wood. The actress stunned the audience when she fell off the stage during the Q&A. “I leaned on the curtain behind me and realized there wasn’t anything behind it and I thought, ‘I’m just going to let myself go gracefully’ and I started laughing hysterically.Anyone who is anyone at Sundance partied until a fire alarm went off at 2:30 a.m., forcing everyone home two-and-a-half hours early. Still, Paris Hilton was in no hurry to evacuate. As the alarm blared, the heiress whipped out her compact and started powdering her nose. On Sunday, all anyone could talk about was Craig Brewer’s hip-hop pimp drama, “Hustle and Flow,” which sold in a $16 million deal with Paramount Studios/MTV Films. WWD
On the Couture front from Paris : The fame-obsessed Andy Warhol — John Galliano’s inspiration for his Dior spring couture collection — would surely have relished the paparazzi gridlock actress Monica Bellucci created when she arrived for the house’s presentation on Monday. But La Bellissima, who refused to remove her sunglasses because of “a problem I’m having with the light today,” parted the barrier of photographers like Moses split the Red Sea. Sofia Coppola, is living in Paris as she prepares to make a movie about Marie Antoinette, and said she thought Galliano would have been the ill-fated queen’s “first choice for dresses if she were still alive today.” .WWD
Kylie Minogue tried to avoid as much of the paparazzi crush at the Chanel couture show by hanging out backstage with Karl Lagerfeld — even hanging off his neck for a moment — until minutes before the show began. The designer has agreed to design what she called a “dreamy” dress for her “Showgirl” tour, John Galliano will also whip up a dress for her.( who would have thought ).
Porn star Jenna Jameson is now hawking “moan tones.” For $2.50 mobile phone users can choose from a variety of moans, and sexual noises all recorded by the blond bombshell.
A series of love letters Paris Hilton wrote to ex-boyfriend Nick Carter has been leaked to the press ( moan tomes).
Christian Slater has separated from his wife
Ben Stiller and Samuel L Jackson have signed up to appear in Ricky Gervais’ new show, Extras. The Hollywood pair join Jude Law and Kate Winslet in the sitcom
Ozzy Osbourne is alive and kicking, despite Internet rumours to the contrary.( his body is alive, but his brain?)
Paris Hiltons pooch Tinkerbell is getting its own line of clothes.
Britney Spears is taking her secret Kabbalah lessons seriously - she’s had a Hebrew symbol tattooed on the back of her neck (a tattoo is seriously religious)

The Ninth Life of Louis Drax : A Novel by Liz Jensen

This sounds like a great story, it has had rave reviews and was a ‘runaway success in the U.K where it was published last year. It is, funnily enough, about a child called Louis Drax. ‘Louis Drax isn’t like other children. The morbidly imaginative and sharply intuitive boy has survived eight suspicious accidents, one for each year of his life. On his ninth birthday, Louis suffers a mysterious fall from a cliff and ends up in Dr. Pascal Dannachet’s experimental coma clinic, where the truth of his most recent mishap will be revealed. Families are torn apart, scientists are confounded by the miraculous, and the human heart unleashes its many secrets. Jensen’s gift for black humor and off-kilter narratives shines throughout this page-turner, and her understanding of fractured psyches and their ability to heal is remarkable. It has been compared with Mark Haddon’s “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime,” and both books could soon be films: Brad Pitt’s company, Plan B, owns the rights to “Curious Incident,” and writer/director Anthony Minghella bought “Louis Drax.”

The Christmas list:
New York Apartments: Private Views by Jamee Gregory
Another snazzy interiors book about the glamourous people living in glamourous homes. ‘Reading through Elle Décor columnist Gregory’s lavish volume is a bit like watching several back-to-back episodes of Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous. Most were done over by professional interior designers, like Mario Buatta, Bunny Williams, Henri Samuel, Pamela Banker and David Easton. Most have stunning views of Manhattan’s best-known parks, plazas and rivers.’ Though many of the apartments lean toward traditional decorating styles- lots of fine china, gilded furniture and trompe d’oeil paintings - thank god there are also some fabulous modern places as well, including Lisa Perry’s futuristic residence above the 59th Street Bridge. “It’s the Jetsons!,”

Strawberry Millefeuille

Strawberry Millefeuille

Here is another fabulous award winning dessert ( if you can pronounce Millefeuille then you deserve an Oscar). It comes from FiFi’s cheat cook book and is a winner for hot summer entertaining because it takes no time at all and you can do it in your bikini. (eat it that is).

You need:
1 packet butter puff pastry
2 or 3 punnets of strawberries and/or a mix red berries
I bottle of whipped cream or thick King Island cream (or one that is NOT runny)
Some icing sugar for sprinkling

·Now here’s the trick:
·You are going to bake squares of the pastry then when they have cooled, you will then make a layered sandwich with the pastry and the cream and berries. Easy!
·Hot hint: cook the pastry before your glamourous lunch then assemble it just before serving so it won’t be soggy (even though you may be).
·OK. So preheat the oven to about 180
·Then cut up the big pastry squares into 4
·You need 3 squares for each dessert so you do the maths: Work it out how many you need for your guests. Put away the calculator you can’t be that stupid.
·Moisturize a baking dish with butter or oil and just lie the cut up pastry squares on it and cook for about 10 or 15 mins
·Keep an eye on them… you want them about the colour of Paris Hilton, a slight honey suntan
·Optional: While they are cooking you can whip up a coulis to drizzle over the dessert if you so desire…. just throw some water, sugar and half a punnet of berries in a saucepan and squish them with a fork so they are crushed. Let them cook on a low heat for about 5 or 10 mins or until it looks like you could drizzle it
·Let the coulis cool.
·Cool
To serve: layer one square of pastry on a plate, dollop a blob· of cream on top, sprinkle with the berries then pile on another pastry square on top of those berries and cream and do the same again, to make a tower of fabulousness
·Then throw a final square on as a lid.
·Drizzle with the coulis and then sprinkle with icing sugar
·WOW! Look at that, it’s world standard!
·What can I say? Another crowd pleaser that takes a mere 10 minutes to whip up and all just to make you the center of attention
Brilliant

Sideways; directed by Alexander Payne
This is a fabulous film. That’s all you need to know. Funny, poignant, and so well written and directed it takes you by surprise. Which I shouldn’t say, because now you won’t be. Yes, it is a Rom Com but guys don’t despair, it’s not a soppy chick flick. So what is it all about? “ A wine tasting road trip to salute Jack’s (Thomas Haden Church) final days as a bachelor careens woefully sideways as he and Miles (Paul Giamatti) hit the gas en route to mid-life crises. The comically mismatched pair, who share little more than their history and a heady blend of failed potential and fading youth, soon find themselves drowning in wine and women.” And boy are they funny and boy are they daggy. Please Note; This is not a groovy film full of fabulous vineyards and chic people. Oh, no. It is shocking in its view of American suburbia. Shocking. And did I mention funny? The New York Times said ‘A small masterpiece. You need to understand that the truth of both a human being and a screen performance doesn’t exist only in grace and beauty, but in small fissures and cracks, in the tiny vein on Miles’s forehead that throbs out the rhythm of his anguish” But I like this review by FILMSINREVIEW.COM who said “I didn’t like it, then I liked it. ” (If only I felt like that about the small fissures and cracks on my forehead.) A must see.
