”I don’t know any woman who wants her hips to look bigger or who wants to look fatter. It will always be about sensuality and beauty” Tom Ford doesn’t know anyone who doesn’t work in fashion.
“ Sure they’re beautiful in photographs. But when you see them in person, they look hungry and miserable, I hate to name names, so I’m not going to, but there’s one in particular I think of often” Kelly Osbourne not mentioning Nicole Ritchie or Lindsay Lohan.
“I’m happy with my life, and I love food. I’m just in training for a movie that I really want to do called Fashionistas” Linsay Lohan listening to Tom.
“I’m working out. I just got a trainer, No, none of that stuff like Pilates/ Just old-school working out” Lindsay Lohan on working her stomach muscles.
“ I don’t like the fame. I like the money.” 27-year-old Jessica Cutler, who shocked Washington by blogging about her sexual exploits under the online moniker “The Washingtonienne.”
“ I’d be in Playboy! I mean, really, everyone has a price and $10 million is mine. So I’ve put it out there. My cleavage you get for free. I mean, it’s not much further,” Teri Hatcher on money and fame and not having big hips
“When it’s cold and it’s 30, 40 degrees and you’re shooting outside in a T-shirt, things arise. So apparently that was a problem. I tried to wear thicker T-shirts and I even took those [heating pads] you use when you ski… and I would stick it in there. So I kind of thought we’d solved the problem and then I just heard from somebody just a few weeks ago in the editing department that apparently they’ve spent like thousands of dollars digitally removing my nipples from the show. Me and Nicolette both have the nipple erasing issue, I think.”Teri Hatcher trying to get into Playboy.
“My mojo’s on It’s like that first glass of wine or when someone gives you a really great Valium.” Geri Halliwell ( isn’t all valium the same?)
“Right now Apple is young and I control what she eats. It’s all very healthy. But she’s her own person and I will respect who she is. If she doesn’t want to be vegetarian or she wants to eat hydrogenated oils and fairy cakes at birthday parties, that’s fine. I’m not going to be a controlling over-protective hippy. We live in the world we do. I don’t want her to be a freak.” Gwyneth on being a freaky controlling over protective mother who calls her child apple and worries she’ll eat hydrogenated oils..oh my god!!!
“If I was serious it wouldn’t be as funny. So I play it up and it’s working. I’ve now got one of the biggest shows on US TV. So obviously I know what I’m doing.” Funny Paris being serious about being funny (no hips and no fairy cakes for you).

Missoni Stripe Scarves

The thing about something being cheap is that it’s all about how you look at it. For example $700 is cheap for a Prada bag but $2 for ten minutes of parking in Bondi is outrageous! So this week’s buy is all about perspective (let’s face it when you go shopping you lose all sense of any rational thought.) But don’t get scared; the cheap but chic of the week is under $200 which is nothing for a Missoni scarf. Yes, it’s time to nick into Belinda at MLC to find a most gorgeous selection of striped Missoni scarves from around $149. (that’s half a shoe). After all, we all know the real thing is worth every cent.

$149 Missoni stripe scarves from Belinda MLC.

Chanel Extracils Noir Mascara

If you were stranded on a desert island (like Tasmania) what would be the thing you couldn’t live without? (Apart from a black Amex, mobile phone and Jimmy choo bag?) Why Chanel extracils noir mascara of course. This is one thing I need to apply to survive every day. It doesn’t seem to smear or smudge when I’m crying in Prada and it has all sorts of things that work to lengthen and curl like beeswax and vitamin B (who knows why you need vitamins there). Oh, it really gets your lashes looking gorgeous. Which means everyone will look at your eyes (the mirror of the souls) instead your hips (the mirror of your ….mouth).

$48 Chanel Extracils Noir Mascara from David Jones.

Here is a great website which features all the mistakes (you must have missed) in lots of movies. Read (or watch if you are a subscriber) all the boo boos that readers have spied. Apparently 15 mistakes have already been found in Revenge of the Sith. Outrageous. Click on ‘best mistakes’ and you find out that in Gladiator there was a guy in blue jeans wandering through it (so ahead of his time) and in Charlie’s Angels Drew Barrymore calls out ‘lucy’ instead of her character name Alex…

Lipstick Jungle by Candace Bushnell
Yes, I know it’s not due out till September but it is The FiFi Report’s job to always be first with the inside scoop. So, just so you know Candace Bushnell’s new novel is called ‘Lipstick Jungle’ and is “about three sexy, powerful career women who will do anything to stay at the top of their fields. Victory Ford is the darling of the fashion world. Single, attractive, and iconoclastic, she has worked for years to create her own signature line. Nico O’Neilly is the glamorous, brilliant editor of Bonfire Magazine — the pop-culture bible for fashion, show business, and politics and one of the most powerful women in publishing, But in a mid-life crisis, she suddenly realizes this isn’t enough. Wendy Healy’s chutzpah is at the top of the cut-throat movie industry but she must decide between her career and her marriage. (that old chestnut… Sounds like a lot of silly, trashy, rubbish which is just what we like to read from Candace!)

Beef Burgers (from Jamie Oliver)
If you are having a BBQ or just want to indulge in a burger please don’t go out and buy them, I insist you make your own. It’s too easy. These taste so good you’ll want to open a takeaway shop

Jamie says this makes about 4 burgers, I say this makes about 10!
You need:
1 kg of minced beef
2 red onions finely chopped
2 eggs
1-2 handfuls of fresh white bread crumbs
1 tab crushed coriander seeds
1 pinch of cumin seeds crushed or 1 teasp of dried cumin)
1 big fat teasp of Dijon mustard
Lots of salt and pepper.

·You can roast these or BBQ them
·So preheat the oven of you are chucking them in the oven.
·Now crush the cumin and coriander seeds HINT: they are so much better than dried spices and since there is nothing else to do in this recipe I have to find you something to do.
·Slice the onions, destroy a couple of slices of fresh white bread
·Then whiz the onions, the spices, the breadcrumbs, the mustard and the eggs in a whizzer.
·Ok open the wine, pour a drink then
·Throw all those ingredients in a big bowl with the minced beef and give it a good mix
·Add more bread crumbs if it’s a bit soggy
·Then mould them into snazzy burger shapes as big or small as you like.
·Make some aioli, roast some capsicums, find some rocket in the fridge
·Now time to BBQ or roast the burgers.
·Serve with some bread rolls, the rocket, aioli, capsicum and anything else you feel like.
·Watch as the crowd devours the burgers and the idea of making their own dinner
·Watch as the adults drink more wine and then ignore or strangle the children
·Another relaxing night with friends!

Crash!
The Plot: Black guy meets white guy who meets an Asian women who meets turkish guy who meets white guy who meets the black guy again. Yes, they all collide and crash into each other. What goes round comes round is the moral to the story. Set in contemporary LA over 36 hours, it’s all about the complexities of racial conflict .
Who: Sandra Bullock, Don Cheadle, Brendon Fraser, Mat Dillon,Thandie Newton
Acting: All great. Sandra Bullock plays against type and is mean and nasty. Matt Dillon plays himself and so is mean and nasty as usual and Don Cheadle plays a nice guy. as usual.
Interiors: it’s not really about style…( it’s LA)
Arty angles: shot in such a groovy way in the hand held camera style
Designer inspiration: It’s LA so the answer is no. Though Thandie Newton is really stylish and Sandra Bullock wears a white shirt again ( as Miss Not congeniality)

Blood’n’ guts: of course, there are LA cops in this movie. Close your eyes, almost scream with terror….it looks real.
Car chases: of course, there are LA cops in this movie
Smooches: yes, but can’t say it’s actually romantic
Smokin’ smooches: No, but there is a fire…does that count?

When Harry met Sally romance Richter scale: I give it a zero
See it or donate to the Prada bag fund? Buy a Prada dingle Dangle robot AND see the movie. A win win!
Rename it: Prang.

Vanity Fair June:
With Angelina Jolie on the cover and a story inside where she says her affair with Brad Pitt is bullshit. ( well the phone sex bit anyway is bullshit). There are cute shots of her with her son Maddox playing around in their suite in the Ritz in Paris. Read Graydon Carter’s editors letter on Iraq war “ it’s fifteen minutes ago, it’s so last year” (according to America) and how Dubya didn’t even mention it in his Inaugural address ( don’t mention the war). Read Dominick Dunne’s column on his trip to London and that everyone in the “upper echelons of London, Paris and New York is talking about the scandalous murder of financier Edouard Stern in Geneva” involving S&M and call girls (“ He came to his end wearing a latex suit”) oh dear. Then read about the late Pope who had a “ mystical belief in the supernatural that bordered on unorthodoxy if not heresy” Mon Dieu! And if that’s not enough, then for some light relief see Tony Curtis nude, holding his puppy dogs in the right place. (he needed 2 dogs…is that a 2 dog night?)
Vogue Entertaining and travel June/July:
Yes, it’s the indulgence issue. See the Mary and Fred looking glamorous at Boomerang, (and find the recipes for the canapés), read about Ruth Reichl and her new book ( see FiFi Report #80), drool over the shots of the top ten Islands Paradises and then the very cool Hotel Faena and Universe that everyone is writing about ( see The FiFi Report from months ago). You want to make the Rhubarb and honey crème mille feuille, the custard with quince jam and pears (from Ladro restaurant in Melbourne) and the Vermouth lemon and fennel risotto…a delicious issue.
Town and Country May:
This is all about “the exotic life” Read about the the cool furniture designers of the world (Marc Newson, Droog Design and Ron Arad amongst them). Be amazed by the huge hilltop retreat in Mustique owned by the Noel family ( for their 5 daughters and kids) and the chic New York apartment of Sherri Donghia. You want to stay at the Marrakech house designed by Jean Louis Raynaud and Kenyon Kramer, and the very elegant restored Ming residence in Beijing ( that’s a first in a home magazine).
