“These hideous trainers! They’re smelly, horrid. Sorry. I keep going on about these modern shoes because they’re not very pretty but I can’t stand these Jesus sandals, all this kind of rubber. Euw! Rubber makes perspiration and is very unhealthy. I don’t like it. The foot is pushed into this kind of little… ugh. Oooh. No, no!” Manolo Blahnik.
“ I love spontaneity: turning a pair of trousers into a turban, if you can’t think what to wear.” Lou Lou de la Falaise ….(ugh. Oooh. No, no!”)
” If Lourdes leaves dirty clothes on the floor, we take all of her clothes and put them in a bag, and she has to earn all of her clothes back by being tidy. She wears the same outfit every day to school until she learns her lesson.” Madonna (ugh. Oooh. No, no!”)
“(People) are going to go to hell if they don’t turn from Wicked behavior… The material world… the physical world. The world of illusion, that we think is real. We live for it, we’re enslaved by it. It will ultimately be our undoing.” Madonna is going to hell.
“I won’t be happy till I’m as famous as God.” Madonna (enslaved).
‘Well, f***ing hell, you got through your 20s without getting divorced. There are no single mothers running around with your babies and you have no lifetime attachments to people you hate.’” Robbie Williams looks on the bright side of being dysfunctional and wicked.
“I won’t be able to watch another fashion show without being disappointed, He’s a kindred spirit in the fashion world. I could share a closet with him.” Marilyn Manson on John Galliano (all this kind of rubber. Euw! Rubber makes perspiration and is very unhealthy).
“They both look so happy and it’s such a pleasure to see two people that are appropriate witnesses, in my humble opinion, for each other’s lives,” Brittany Murphy on Demi and Ashton. ( I’d you to meet my husband, sorry, partner ,er, sorry, my witness) ….ugh. Oooh. No, no!”
“It happened to my parents. My father was emcee of the Miss Kentucky pageant, and my mom was in it. He asked her on a date and asked her to marry him immediately. They’re still together so I know love at first sight can work.” George Clooney is oooh. yes, yes my witness….

Gucci ‘G’ ice trays

It’s getting hotter, it’s getting humid and it’s raining. This is all fabulous news. It means two things. We can finally wear our divine Lanvin trenchcoats and we can finally use our Gucci ‘G’ ice trays. Is there anything better after a hard days shopping than coming home to a relaxing Gin & Tonic topped with ‘G’ shaped ice cubes? In packs of 2, they come in the Gucci signature colours of red and green. There is just one problem; I can’t bring myself to put anything Gucci in the fridge.

Ren F10 Enzymatic Skin Smoothing Facial Mask

Kate Moss is such a style icon it’s impossible not to be influenced by her. So this week I’ve been trying to go clean. I’ve got into REN. It means ‘clean’ in Swedish. It’s a fabulous ‘skin care brand which is 97% plant and mineral derived and free from synthetic fragrances and colours, petrochemicals and animal and GM ingredients’. I love the Ren F10 Enzymatic Skin Smoothing Facial Mask. Anything that can brighten my complexion and leave it a little more soft and smooth gets my vote. Like having a fruit salad on your face, it has a mix of blackcurrant, Barbados cherry and papaya. Delicious. Pete Doherty take note.

The City of Falling Angels by John Berendt
Who doesn’t want to read about Venice? And who doesn’t want to read John Berendt writing about Venice? “ It’s taken Berendt 10 years follow up his bestseller, Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. In lieu of Savannah, he offers us Venice. Berendt moves to Venice in 1997, just three days after the city’s famed Fenice opera house burns down during a restoration. The Venetian chattering classes, among whom Berendt finds a home, want to know whether it was an accident or arson. Initially, Berendt investigates, but is soon distracted by the city’s charming denizens. Berendt has delivered an intriguing mosaic of modern life in Venice, which makes for first-rate travel writing”

Minted Pea and lemon Pesto

Minted Pea and lemon Pesto from the latest Donna Hay.
Anything that says lemon, anything that says mint and peas and anything that’s is just thrown in the whizzer is my idea of a delicious dinner. In fact this is so ridiculously easy I hardly need to write the recipe; just throw it all in the whizzer with pine nuts and parmesan and you’re done…

You need:
1 cup of frozen peas
1 cup mint leaves
¼ cup one nuts
¼ cup parmesan cheese
1 tabs of lemon juice ( more if you like)
½ cup of olive oil (more if you need)
Salt and pepper

·Throw in the whizzer, Don’t blitz it too much, you want it all crunchy and the peas to stay whole ish ( otherwise it will turn into mush)
·Taste it and add more lemon juice for a real tang
·Don’t die of shock but there is no garlic in this recipe, the lemon and mint gives it a real zing.
·Serve on hot pasta. Or just nibble on it with crusty bread and a glass of wine…..

Enron; The Smartest Guys in the Room Directed by Alex Gibney
Who: Ruthless, Greedy, amoral bankers. George Dubya has a bit part (funny about that)
The Plot: Ruthless, Greedy, amoral bankers take the money and run from Enron. Be amazed at the ‘company’s cold and calculated moves–which caused the California power outages, and lead to the ousting of governor Gray Davis—and watch as Enron employees are shown laughing at forest fires. Unbelievable footage of employees reveals unbridled greed, lust for risk-taking, and guiltless cheating, all while thinking they could never be caught. Finally, a few brave whistle-blowers step forward, including Bethany McLean, author of the Enron novel upon which this film is based.’
Acting : if only these guys were acting.
Photography: it’s groovy, documentary style.
Wardrobe: these guys go from drab to bad
Salon Beaute: Interesting how the bankers love a comb over and boring suits. Oh and hair transplants and eye jobs.
Smokin’ Smooches: The corporate fraud is smokin’ (and so was the Californian electricity grid)
Car chases: no car chase, just chasing the dollar
Botox. Greedy, amoral, ruthless types should have botox on their spending habits ( I know that from experience).
Rotten tomatoes.com rating on their ‘tomatometer’: 97% approval ! (http://www.rottentomatoes.com)
Best reviews: “This sober, informative chronicle of the biggest business scandal of the decade is almost indecently entertaining” New York Times
See it or donate to the Prada bag/save Katie fund? An inspiring film; this puts my shopping habit into perspective . The Prada debt fund is not looking too bad. $2000 a mere dot in the ocean of Enron’s debt.
