The FiFi Report 122

issue 122

“Years ago I asked dad for a boob job and he said it would cheapen my image, and he’s right.” Paris Hilton (but a porn video is fine).
“By the time the film is released, I will be 48 and I wanted to do the nudity in a way that’s quite brazen. I wanted her to be very masculine, and I wanted the audience to have a moment where they realize she’s naked and then realize that she’s a fortysomething woman and naked. Because we’re not used to seeing that in movies. We’re used to seeing Sean Connery and his granddaughter, you know what I mean? Or Mel Gibson and his daughter.” Sharon Stone on Basic Instinct 2 (she is going on her instincts). Scary Movie 2.
“ I’m OK with being topless in front of people, but I’m not sure if I’d want to do it on-screen, If it’s a role that’s going to win me an Oscar, it would be different.” Lindsay Lohan thinks she can go topless in life but not on film. Sharon Stone talk some sense to this girl. You get the oscar after making the film.
“Fake boobs look deformed. All my friends that have them, they look deformed.” Paris Hilton is so kind about her friends.
“ I’m so tired of being part of this sick, twisted Bermuda Triangle. It makes my skin crawl. ” Jennifer Aniston in US Vogue. (Bitter.com. Brad and Angelina are not sick or twisted: they are best friends with George Clooney and adopt orphans).
“I don’t know about Brad Pitt, leaving that beautiful wife to go hold orphans for Angelina,” Micheal Douglas in GQ. “I mean, how long is that going to last?” A very long time, they’re lost in the Bermuda Triangle.
“Marriage is a big deal, but who’s to say I’m not going to pull a ‘Vegas’ and get married just to get married and see what it’s like for a minute? Never say never. The things that you don’t plan are the best. I’m a very spontaneous person.” Lindsay Lohan is already planning to get married spontaneously.
“I’ve failed miserably at all of them. I can say that it was always me. You can’t describe me as a great success.” George Clooney on his relationships (you are not a failure! It’s not you, it’s me).
“I want to be married with six kids by next year - little sextuplets - and just have them all around. And next time I speak to you I want them all sitting around here doing an interview with me.” George Clooney wants sex tuplets.
“We had our first meeting inside a beautiful jet plane and then when we stepped outside the weather was really terrible and very windy. It proved only one thing. That it is actually my hair” Donald Trump answering one burning issue that has puzzled his fans: Is that really his hair? ( A hair piece will cheapen his image) .

Missoni Home Sale at Spence & Lyda

Just because your wardrobe is looking totally black doesn’t mean your home should be as well. So ditch those black sheets, the black plates and towels and head to the sensational Missoni sale at Spence & Lyda. There is 30% off the 2005 Missoni Home bedding, towels & cushions (and 30-50% off other selected sheeting, blankets and outdoor furniture). Plus in “addition to Missoni’s glorious bedding, towels, upholstery fabrics, embroidery and crockery Spence & Lyda will be launching, in July direct from the Milan Furniture Fair, Missoni’s new range of sculptured area rugs and the first taste of the inaugural furniture collection.” The only black in your house should be your black Amex.

Eco stainless steel bin

Why is it that your shoe wardrobe can be colour coded, sorted, documented, polaroided and as ordered as Dolly Parton’s makeup drawer but when it comes to your rubbish bin all you have is a complete mess. Probably because it is rubbish and you are throwing it out. (That never happens with shoes). Time to buy the Eco stainless steel pedal bin from Freedom. It’s a cheap but chic version of the Brabantia bin and has 2 snazzy spaces to sort your recycling. So wine Bottles can go one side, chocolate wrapping the other. Perfect. It’s small, in stainless steel and doesn’t take up too much space. Which can only mean one thing: more room for shoes (vintage recycled of course).
$149 Eco stainless steel bin from Freedom http://freedomfurniture.com.au/wis/live/358/p/Homewares_Kitchenware_1.asp

Nivea Lip Care Gloss & Shine Lip Gloss

What is it with lip gloss? You pay a fortune, and then it doesn’t stay on when you eat or talk. A waste. You may as well just eat your Amex: it contains zero calories plus you’ll never be able to use it again. You’ll be thin and rich. Brilliant. The other alternative is to just grab a Nivea Lip Care gloss and shine lip gloss. I love it. It’s glossy but not too sticky, seems to stay on for longer than 5 minutes and has ‘Macadamia Nut Oil and wax of Candelilla leaves’ to protect and moisterise your lips. For $3.69 you can eat your words and still look great.

$3. 69 Nivea Lip Care Gloss & Shine from or .

The Girl Who Walked Home Alone: Bette Davis, A Personal Biography (Hardcover) by Charlotte Chandler
This book is based on a series of extensive interviews conducted shortly before Davis’ death in 1989 and is all in her own words. Read about her ‘financially precarious childhood, her four failed marriages, countless affairs, two abortions and a heartbreaking rift with her daughter after the latter wrote a spiteful tell-all. Eternally boy-crazy, she waxes dreamy—and bawdy—about various leading men including Errol Flynn (”a beautiful thing”), Laurence Olivier (”an Adonis”) and Howard Hughes (”Howard Huge he was not”). Davis is alternately imperious, catty, generous and self-dramatizing and Chandler complicates her version of events with commentary by colleagues, lovers and enemies’. Juicy!

Deep Fried fish fillet with Sichuan pepper and salt

Deep Fried fish fillet with Sichuan pepper and salt …inspired by Kylie Kwong
I just love Kylie Kwong’s food. It just seems to have a little more depth than the Donna hay/Bills fusion food.
Kylie says to do this with garfish but I just use flake or a white fish fillet. It’s all about frying the fish, then the chillies and sprinkling it with spring onions, chilli, coriander and the Sichuan pepper and salt. Incredibly easy so please buy the Sichuan pepper (then you can make Luke’s Lemon chicken from FiFi Report #45).

* Remember deep frying is less fattening than pan frying. Scientific tests have proved it.
You need for an entrée for 2 or for 4 models

2 fish fillet (one fillet each )
Plain flour for dusting
Couple cups of vegetable oil for deep frying
2 large red chillies (not to hot ones) and bruised !
Bunch coriander
¼ cup of spring onions julienned
A lemon
1 tablespoon of Sichuan pepper and salt …
* For Sichuan pepper and salt: dry toast 1 tabs Sichuan pepper corns and grind in mortar and pestle with 3 tabs of seas salt = 4 tabs.
Serve with steamed rice

·Pummel the Sichuan pepper and salt in a mortar and pestle
·Pat dry the fish fillets and lightly toss them in flour. ( Lightly; you don’t want a repeat of the Paris Hilton /PETA episode at London fashion week).
·Put the rice on to cook, it can sit waiting quietly.
·Pour a wine or two.
·Grab the spring onions and try to julienenne them in a snazzy way.
·Bruise the chillies. ( use a knife and fork for a hands free method so you don’t get hot chilli in your mascara; ouch)
·Heat the oil in a wok until it shimmers slightly (think Revlon skinlights foundation)
·Carefully lower the fish into the oil but don’t splash the Prada!
·Cook the fish in batches (if you have more than 2), takes about 4 minutes or until it’s as lightly brown as Nicole Ritchie.
·Let the fish drain on kitchen paper to get of all the oil and naughty calories
·Add the chillies to the same hot oil and swirl round till they are as red as YSL lipstick.
·Drain them too.
·Drain your wine glass
·Toss the fish fillets on a plate, and accessorise with the spring onions, chillies, coriander and lots of Sichuan pepper and salt.
·Squeeze with lemon and serve with steamed rice
·Quite divine.
Have more Sichuan pepper at hand, it’s addictive.

The History of Violence……… Directed by David Cronenberg
Who: Viggo Mortensen, Maria Bello, William Hurt, Ed Harris
Genre: thriller with lots of romance. It’s the perfect date movie
The Plot: Evil, mean and wicked types try to rob a small town café. Quiet, easygoing family man shoots and kills them in superb style. Becomes a hero. Baddies with scarred faces in black suits doing blues Brothers impersonations turn up. Gets scary. Hero gets into more shooting. Wife gets snitchy. How can her husband be such a snazzy shot and kill so easily? Why are all these baddies after him? Who is he? ( it’s Aragorn Strider from the Lord of the Kings that’s who and we all know what he can with a sword ).
Acting: “Mortensen proves he can carry a film without the assistance of hobbits, dwarves and elves” . Maria Bello is great ( she was in The Cooler) and William Hurt is oscar nominated sensational.
Photography: Groovy and dark.
Set design: The baddies have tacky, nouveaux riche mansions and the small town good guys are all about vintage 50’s furniture. There is a moral in there somewhere.
Wardrobe: The wife looks far too chic to be in a daggy small town; simple camel sweaters back with clean white T shirts and hip jeans.
Salon de beaute: Viggo is so handsome George Clooney is out of a job. The wife’s hair is too groovy and styled for a small town dag. Ed Harris scarred face is fabulously scary.
Botox? Need a huge jab to get through the suspense, and all the blood and guts.
Waterproof mascara? A little tissue and a little dab is all you need to get to the end.
Tom Cruise/Alien sighting: Like Mission Impossible violence is always lurking
Smooches: yes, yes, yes
Smokin’ smooches; on fire, call the fire brigade!
Car chases; sex and violence; there has to be a car chase in there somewhere.
Blood’n’guts: It’s called the history of violence. Nuf said
Best review: “There’s not a scene wasted in the 97-minute unspooling, not a detour that doesn’t tell, surprise, horrify, delight.” ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY
Best worst review “Don’t watch any trailers or read any reviews, including mine. You shouldn’t have even read this.” About.com
See it or donate to the Prada bag fund? The Gothic trend is big news this season, it’s all about dark and brooding black. Is that a Prada copy or the real thing on your arm? See it and find out .
