“It was this incredibly ridiculous coat of ours, brassy and awful, just in the worst taste but it was strong, dramatic, and it says I’m here.” Tuleh designer on the coat Samantha wore on her way to her first chemotherapy appointment (here but not for long)
“Samantha wore one of his suits in one memorable scene in which she was performing oral sex on another woman, but that suit was not a major hit at retail”. WWD (funny about that!)
“I’m glad the show is over, it was becoming too much, People would stop me all the time, saying, ‘Manolo, Manolo, Hi ” Manolo Blahnik to WWD (better than saying Jimmy)
“Sex and the City’ made women all across the world feel comfortable in not being able to pay the rent this month, but still getting those shoes,” Michael Kors (sooo comfortable)

“Right now — you may think I’m insane — I’m thinking of Saint Laurent.” Tom Ford after Gucci

“No that’s not true it’s been 12 years” Joan’s reply
“You know those people who buy from a thrift store and wear it like couture? I wear couture and it looks like I got it from a thrift store.” Rachel Griffith (You said it)
Under the Tuscan Sun (from the book by Frances Mayes)
How could a book so good be made into a movie so bad? And how can a bad movie have such a good role for Diane Lane? She is really the only good thing in this bad de la bad movie. Bless her, she tries so hard to make it real. But a fabulous house in Tuscany or not but how can you give it your best when you’re wearing white socks, loafers and high waisted baggy jeans? And that’s the good news! This movie is nothing at all like the book (if you don’t know the book then keep subscribing: you need help). Please explain the following:
Exhibit A: What was an old Asian/American pregnant dyke doing there?? Good God!
Exhibit B. Who was that awful old English creature swanning around in outrageously shocking 50’s hats dishing out clichés? Zany!
Exhibit C. What was the bit about the gay tour of Tuscany? It’s like Queer Eye goes to Italy without the quips by Carson and no extreme makeover (very extreme).
Need I go on? Probably worth seeing just to see how bad it is. OK, the shots of Tuscany, the fabulous house and the scenes of Positano are gorgeous and make you want to buy a house in Italy and write a book about it…
Directed, produced and written by Audrey Wells. Remember that name and never see a film by her again (Except “The truth about cats and dogs” that was good)
With all this pouring rain around you’d have to agree that the item du jour has to be a trench coat. (I’m obsessed) Why? Because they’re fashionable AND practical. (Make the most of this trend it might not happen again!) So scroll through the past FiFi fashion sections and get cracking for some which are cheap but chic (see FiFi Report 26). But THE most important accessory in these wet and rainy days is a little something to toss in the Birken when you don’t need it. Yes, a light foldable umbrella. Don’t struggle with those big ones unless you have a driver. The best one is ever so light, very small and in all sorts of colours and prints (ditch boring black) in KMart $18 or at Gowings $19.95.
It’s trend that been around for a couple of seasons and it just gets hotter: it’s the slogan/logo T-shirt. It’s just a cool way to look cool, a way to look um, er, young without resorting to shocking 80’s fluoro mini skirts. A slogan T-shirt breaks up the seriousness of chic dressing, looks great with jeans, your black pencil skirt and under a Chanel jacket. It says, “just because I’ve got a Kelly bag doesn’t mean I can’t have an irreverent edgy look” (Good idea: get that on a T-shirt). It’s throwaway chic at its best. So go to FCUK for T-shirts that say “Me Me Me” (that’s enough about?) and ”if you love something set it free and if it doesn’t come back who gives a FCUK!” mmm $39 or go to Kmart for all sorts of T-shirts: Betty Boo, Felix the cat, Mighty mouse, Cat in the hat and Popeye $10. Just Jeans have Mickey Mouse ones on sale $29.95, Wayne Cooper has a cool Mick Jagger/Stones one in black or white $75, Morrissey have some with Je t’aime for $49 and don’t forget about Supre, General Pants (Emily the Strange) and Wheels and Doll Baby for ones with “Fuck off I’m with the band” $39! Outrageous
I know it’s easy to get obsessed by your look of your feet but I’ve given up on all the other areas of my body and there’s still some hope from the ankle down! And it IS summer so you may as well show off your best feature before they’re hidden again. Which is why you want to keep those heels soft and buffed and why you need the Du’it heel balm. The blurb says, “Formulated for the most difficult cases of rough, dry, cracked and hard thickened skin on heels, hands, fingertips, elbows, knees, feet or any part of the body where dryness and flakiness occurs.” Crickey! Where else are they thinking? Mmm I’ll just stick to my feet and hands… $12.95 at most chemists.
“ON A DELICATE carpet of pink rose petals, Tom Ford delivered his last ever collection for Gucci last night before a cheering crowd of 1,500 - and what a spectacular one it was. Roses aside, the grand master of branding presented a series of flashback outfits from his 10-year run” Vogue UK
And more..“These were gorgeous clothes. Commercial clothes. Clothes with character, bravado, history. These were not team clothes. Only a singular, confident vision could, under unimaginable pressure, deliver a collection so focused and bold in its allure, one that flaunted its relationship to the past yet looked breath-stopping, gotta-have-it, second-mortgage brand new” from WWD

Touching the Void:<i>The Harrowing First-Person Account of One Man’s Miraculous Survival by Joe Simpson
Better read this before the movie comes out! (Soon). Even if the closest you get to perring into a crevasse is looking in the mirror, you’ll love reading about this amazing adventure. It’s the true story of Joe Simpson and his climbing partner, Simon Yates “who had just reached the top of a 21,000-foot peak in the Andes when Simpson plunged off the vertical face of an ice ledge, breaking his leg. Yates tries to lower his friend to safety but is forced to cut the rope before he’s pulled to his own death. Joe Simpson’s harrowing account wrestles with bravery, friendship, physical endurance, the code of the mountains, and the will to live. An epic tale of fear, suffering, and survival; a poignant testament to unshakable courage and friendship” So there! (Like surviving fashion week) Dymocks $24.95

It’s about The Weinstein Brothers (Harvey and Bob) and Robert Redford “Biskind brilliantly covers their career hits, from the high-profile acquisition of Steven Soderbergh’s Sex, Lies and Videotape through back stories for Cinema Paradiso, Good Will Hunting and Chicago to brutal clashes with Martin Scorsese over Gangs of New York. Spaghetti with Tuna, Onions and Capers.
This absolutely delicious recipe was first spotted in the book Maggie’s Farm, reworked by Nigella in UK Vogue and then the short cut version was adapted by Donna Hay. And now everyone has been begging for the FiFi version! (The trick is the preserved lemon…)
1 pack of angel hair pasta
100ml olive oil
1 large red onion roughly chopped and it has to be red because it’s prettier.
Juice of 1 lemon or more
¼ of a preserved lemon finely chopped and rinsed
3 tabs of capers
Bunch of rocket
½ Tuna steak per person chopped into small chunks
Garlic finely chopped
A sprinkle of dried chili (or more if you like it hot!)
A tiny ½ teasp on Truffle oil (if you have it)
Heaps of organic hand harvested French salt and pepper
·Heat the water for the pasta and get it cooking
·Heat the olive oil and truffle oil in a fry pan and throw in the onion, garlic and chili
·Let it sweat. Oh yeah baby let it sweat (which means put it on low heat and let them cook slowly so they get soft and juicy as opposed to frying)
·Add the lemon juice and preserved lemon and watch the onion turn a gorgeous pink. Oh soo pretty!
·Add the capers and some rocket and it looks even prettier: all those pinks and greens together!
·Turn down the heat or turn it off and add the tuna and let it sit there to cook ever so slightly .You want the Tuna barely cooked. Don’t turn up your nose. It won’t be raw by the time you’re finished…
·When the pasta is cooked, drain it and toss it in with the Tuna for a minute.
·Toss it all on to a big serving platter and sprinkle on any remaining rocket for a chic de la chic garnish but don’t be prissy with the salt and pepper. Add More.
·Drizzle on more olive oil or lemon juice (moisturizer is so important) if you think it looks too dry.
·Some people think you can put cheese on this. I don’t think so. Don’t invite them again!
